Understood. I've not heard of that issue, supposedly the Magnum and .223 Wolf primers have thicker cups, so if the regular ones won't fire with the AR Gold I really wonder about those.

Is it possible your firing pin might be a little worn and short and that might contribute to the issue?

I'll have to check it for length, what's the spec? Shouldn't be worn though, I only have about 1000 rounds through that upper (18" rifle length JP15 .223 wylde). In that span I've had 2 misfires and 1 FTF from an untuned 44rd mag. Half of the 1000 has been factory though, no misfires from factory ammo so far.
