Today I learned that Ritalin and Cocaine are chemically very similar structures. Ritalin and it's controlled dosage being slower uptake on the dopamine system in the brain but people have learned to crush the Ritalin into a powder and abuse it similar to Cocaine. I also learned it has chemical interaction with a host of medicines including antidepressants so now I am wondering more about the claims than before.

Back in my day I knew high school students that would abuse cough syrups and motion sickness tablets, paint thinners and aerosol propellents. I can only imagine what kids and high schoolers with the internet at their fingertips on their phones today can quickly learn about in pursuit of dangerous highs.
