anyone tried rocksett barrel bedding?

Yes I've used rocksett, with no problems, on my brakes and it works as advertised. That said if I were to do as you plan I would use a clear coat auto engine paint rather than rocksett (no worries about it being washed off if I'm hunting in bad weather), just my thoughts for what it's worth.
