The mere inclusion of the 2nd Amendment in the Bill of Rights intrinsically infers that it is a right of the people, and exists because the framers understood that an overreaching government will do as they wish, and operate with impunity "above the law" in their own eyes.
The fact that the rights of the American citizen have been under ever-increasing duress from our own elected servants (read: Government) for the last century should serve as a hallmark of the true intentions of those that have slowly cemented their own foundation of power, while eroding that of the people. in light of a government that seeks to erode the very founding ideals established for it's own citizens, this alone should stand as a beacon of the rising tide of tyranny.
The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution and The Bill of Rights serve as an established high ground, afforded to the American citizenry in a nation that is by, of and for the people. Not by, of and for the government to subjugate and dominate.
The very spirit of what it means to be American was forged in the blood and fire of insurrection, uprising against a tyrannical authority of government - I cannot conclude that it would ever be in the design of this great country, to not hold fast the same ideals, by blood, courage and honor - Red, White and Blue.
Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it, and to institute a new Government, laying its Foundation on such Principles, and organizing its Powers in such Form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient Causes; and accordingly all Experience hath shewn, that Mankind are more disposed to suffer, while Evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the Forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long Train of Abuses and Usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object, evinces a Design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their Right, it is their Duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future Security.
