The most popular big bore barrels are 16-18", and my Beowulf has pretty minimal muzzle flash at 16". Remember that the big bores use powder more related to magnum handguns and shotguns than what we typically think of as rifle powders.
I use mostly Lil Gun, designed for 20 gauge and 410 gauge shotguns, or IMR 4227. These powders are considerably faster than typical rifle powders.
