The JP SCS in a carbine extension tube seems to be smoother than any standard rifle buffer/spring combo I have fired to date. It feels more like a hydraulic strut/shock, than a spring on a rod.
The next best set-up for a carbine is the A5 tube with A5 buffer.
For a stock, it really should be driven by:
* your height/build
* Will family members and youth be shooting this too (if so, go with a telescoping stock/carbine extension)
* Bench rider or carry gun
The telescoping stocks offer more options when it comes to Length of Pull, ease of carry, ease of packing, fitting to cold weather gear, adjusting to the specific position you're in, etc.
The rifle length fixed stocks give the gun a more solid feel.
