Hornady 130gr ELD-Match

I've been pondering what a long throated 6mmGrendelAI would do with a long throat. I'm betting it'd compete with the dasher all day long. And be easier to fireform and get to feed from mags. Hmmmmmm.

Test No 2 for this bullet and powder.
Bullet still the 130gr ELD-M and powder is VV N540.

I chose the load 30,2gr and made a tighter laddertest around that load.
Two round of 29,8gr to make sure all worked OK and for a CBS.
Then 1 round or each load over the Magnetospeed Sporter.

The big difference from the first test is that I now have mounted the Aimsport 42S suppressor on the barrel.

About -1 Celcius.
Alt: 300 meters over sea level.
Baro: 942 hPa
Humidity: 99%

Result:

Must admit that I'm pleased with the test and that I chose the 30,2gr load.
From 29,9gr and up tp 30,5gr the ES is 9 m/s.

Have not really decided where I should go on from here, but I think I will test out 1 or 2 different loads and load 10 rounds each and see what numbers I get.
But witch loads should I chose?

How does your brass look from your recent 30,2 test? Looking at your charts, I'd be inclined to treat that as my max, though I'd inspect your case heads carefully as you go to ensure continued safety. I'm sure that's over gas gun pressures. 2600+ fps is smoking from 130s in a Grendel.

Play with seating depth there and see what comes out.

The brass looked fine from the previous test at 30,2gr.
No problem with bolt lift, marks on the case bottom etc.

The speed from the previous test and now the second test is not really compatible since on the first test I shot with a muzzle brake and not the suppressor as done on the second test.

I've pushed 130 ELD at 2624 avg over 31.2gr AA2520 with no pressure marks or heavy bolt lift in a Howa, but the recoil and general feel was enough to make me stop. The ES and SD was crappy and I never got back to tuning it more.

So, third test with this bullet and VV N540.
Went to the range after work to test and see what would happen on target.

About -1 Celcius.
Alt: 300 meters over sea level.
Baro: 995 hPa
Humidity: 47%

For this test I chose the load 30,1gr and loaded 10 rounds.
For this test I also had two different targets that I wanted to try.
Range is about 100m (~109 yrds).
Prone with bipod and rear bag.

After 10 shots with 30,1gr of VV N540:
Avg: 796 m/s (~2611 fps)
SD: 2 m/s (~6,56 fps)
ES: 6 m/s (~19,68 fps)

First target, 5 rounds:

And this was a surprise! It was cold, and windy, bad position, winter gloves and probably more excuses.
This group is one of the best ones I?ve done with this caliber. Really pleased! But at the same time, it felt to good to be true :o

Did some measurements on the target:

So it looks as the 130gr ELD-M can shoot.

This entire thread has been a huge help to me, as someone who is beginning the process of trying to understand the various intricacies of the load development/refinement process. Thank you.

EDIT: The whole Metric vs. Imperial thing had me in mental fits for the first page or two of the thread - especially when I noted the sub-1.0 SD/ES figures. lol

EDIT 2: LMAO - My Forth experience has shone brightly above. I find that I relapse several times a year with that (writing Forth when Fourth is contextually correct). And, talking about MIND****s, Forth's RPN is effin brutal.
