New bullet from hornady.. may be a good choice for those that like a copper alloy mono... 25min. video on their website.
They are offering this bullet loaded in a 6.5 creedmoor, so I bet the expansion threshold is still pretty high compared to traditional SST type bullet.
At about 4:45 they mentioned the traditional threshold is around 2000fps... the hornady guys did not say their bullet expands at any lower velocity.
At 13:00 they talk about expansion/wound channel/penetration/impact velocity (2000fps)
In my 16" gun I'd be hitting that 2000fps around 300 yards I figure... based on similar velocity to the 123gr SST
It sounds like they optimized the aerodynamics some to help BC and carry velocity better. But no mention of lower expansion thresholds.
