Hello Friends, I was wondering If I did okay on the correct 6.5mm magazines. I purchased three of them. I'm assuming these are the best ones to use?

Ealanders have been good to me. AA typically does additional inspection on the magazines they carry as an extra layer of QC.

The E-Lander mags have stout springs when new. I suggest you load your mags to capacity until your ready to go shoot. Some forum members have cycled the magazines spring multiple times with a wooden yard stick or wooden dowel rod to help wear in the spring.

I have only had one faulty E-Lander magazine. That mag was a twenty four round mag with rough welds on the spine which was putting drag on the follower. A couple passes with a flat file fixed that mag. All my other E-L mags have proven reliable, especially after they’ve been used a few times.

I'm happy with them. Just ran a full one in a 3-gun practice run yesterday with Wolf Steel. Ran great.

I like the Duramag/C-Products defense mags best. I've had both those and E-Landers. E-Landers cycled fine but were too hard to unload to be worth fooling with for me.

Wow you guys were right these steel mags are very hard to fill up. They hold 24rds and I could barely push in the 20th rd. wow lol

When I acquired my AR Grendel I got 3 ea. E-landers and 3 AR-stoner 10 round mags and both brands have performed well so far with ~600 rounds total through them.
With that being said the fit and finish of the E-landers is superior in every way, I do not recall what the price difference was between the two at the time and they were my only options available at the time.

Yeah there's only like 4 choices for magazines and with a 20rd there's only like 2 choices the AA/E's and the AR Stoners. I don't really like steel mags though, oh well it's fine for now I guess Smile

At the recommendation of other forum members, I've found loading the Elanders and letting them sit for a few weeks helps reduce some of that spring tension.

Here are most of the magazine choices:

I have been using CPRoducts mostly from 2009-2014, then started using some of the Elanders in addition to my CProducts, then got the Amend2 polymer mags when they came out, and recently ordered a bunch of ASC 25rd mags.

I’m mostly shooting through the 17.6” or 12” Grendel lately with all of the above.

I de-edge, blend, and polish my feed ramps on all barrel extensions though, as well as make sure the ejector has a radius on it to ensure reliability.

Right side magazine feed presentation can hang-up on an ejector if they ejector is too long or has a really sharp edge, due to how wide Grendel case heads are.

I’ve never had it happen because I do the ejector work before assembly on every upper I’ve built.

Also, there are AR Stoner mags available via MidwayUSA.

I have used Elander mags. I found they tend to bind mid stack, but not consistently. Mine are relegated to being range mags. I bought 2 and both have issues. Won't buy more.

Garik,

One good thing about steel mags is they can give you a little more room. Our cartridge OAL is whatever the chamber and mag will allow, whichever is shorter. SAAMI lists max 57.40mm, but ASC mags allow up to 58mm. In a relatively slow calibre it all helps.
