I would like to take some of these aspects of fast, accurate shooting from 3-gun and put a demand for them in more of the intermediate range stages in long-range matches, where you will see the advantage of a semi-auto platform with a flat trajectory like the .260 Remington/AR10 combo, which are meant for each other.
At BoomerShoot last year, I was able to clean 3 boomers that were 4x6" or 5x7" at 375yds as fast as I could index and pull the trigger, and to see one explode after the other in rapid succession was really a joy. Speaking of terrible conditions, you guys should start looking at signing up for LR1955's Precision Rifle Clinic this year and shooting steel from 375-700yds in totally unpredictable weather and wind conditions in the northern Idaho mountains. You will walk away with a more solid command of you and your rifle/optic/cartridge system's capabilities and limitations.
I saw him do it, and it was a kick to watch! We were shooting within about 3 yards of each other, and I was shooting my 28" Grendel. I was watching him shoot through the scope, and it was a kick in the pants to watch! Almost felt like rolling thunder, so close together that the visual and concussion effects were something else. At 375 you have time to say, "Hit" before the sonic boom hits you, so the shooter can see the explosion and be moving before there is audible feedback. LOTS of fun!!

Shot mine out to 850 yds with a 10mph wind, first time that far with Grendel. That little bullet will impress.

I went shooting on Saturday. Wasn't with my Grendel though. It was actaully a half decent day. Unfortunately, I was out either trying to prove or disprove that my scope was messed up. It wasn't a fun day at the range. Eventually, it was more than apparent that the scope (crossfire) was bad. Sent it back to Vortex today ... there upgrading me to a new Viper for a few more bucks. Happy with the deal.
I wouldn't mind taking some longe range classes. But, can't do the run and gun anymore. No cartilage in the knees and nerve damage in the lower back. Unfortunately, It's prone or bench for me anymore, unless I'm out hunting bambi.

Well, the Boomershoot Precision Rifle clinic is all prone, though we also do bench if someone wants to go that route and bring a bench. Great fun is had by all!

Well now I HAVE to go sight in my new 6.5 Upper. It's -28F this morning, I guess it will be a quick range session. I bet it won't be crowded though :-)

Wow glad to see you got your upper back and all is good. Someone said they would like to improve their shooting with no support. When my dept. started to let us carry rifles I started shooting 1,000's of 22 rimfire in AR-15's. I have a 22 AR set up just like my duty AR. Shooting 9 x 11 inch steel plates out to 100 - 150 yards with a 22 is great fun and training.

Deez, I think Vascar got the right idea, a dedicated 22 AR upper. I'm looking hard at a Kies. My brothers has a 10/22, it has a great trigger if your a gorilla. I just can't see buying a 10/22 and then stick another $150-$200 into it for a trigger. Just food for thought.

I dont know, thats alot of money for a .22lr, if anything maybe a .223 upper with a .22lr conversion, that way I could sell the upper or use the parts for something else. That was my thought anyway, I dont want any more .223's either though. Why would the 10/22 need a trigger?

Any shooting over the weekend........... looks like I may have to find another location for quick trips. Garland range has been shut down for the time being due to an injunction filled by Rockwall county. Gonna have to start making a longer drive for range duty now.
