went coyote hunting a few times, even they werent out in the weather, duck hunting was good though.

Nasty weather on this side of the US as well - Rained on me all Saturday afternoon and early evening trying to get the Grendel hog #2 for the month. Only deer seen - they must know the season is closed!

Doesn't count, those people had a war against freakin' RUSSIA in the wintertime, AND WON! They aren't human, or better yet, that moss the reindeer eat that has natural antifrieeze in it, has infused all of them too!

I actually am preferring to shoot in the most extreme conditions possible, with transportation to and from the range or area being the limiting factors, with feeding magazines with bare fingers a close 2nd. Glocks make great hand-warmers though...

ya before i switched to the grendel. my longest shot was in hard falling snow with 13.5 mph wind and gusts to 19mph. it was with a 308 and 805yards a man sized steel target.

Sat and tried to call predators at -24F on Saturday, but they didn't want to move in the cold any more than I did.

Temperature wise it would have been a good day, in the mid 70's but wind was gusting in mid 40 mph range at times.

Last 24hrs been freezing rain turned the roads to ice, now it's snowing. Put a new scope on the 65G and waiting, with a fresh batch of reloads, for the weather to break so I can get out and zero it. Cabin fever is setting in.

I got out for about an hour early Sunday AM and knocked the paint off my 6" MGM pepper popper with a 5.56 AR & a 22 pistol. Once the wind kicked up I was out of there!

Hmmm....maybe there is something to that old thing about Finns and masochism!!!! LOL!!! Training in tough conditions does make everything else seem nice, though!

Got in a practice FTR match with my .223 at 600 yards and also put 40 rounds downrange with my 6.5 Grendel. Weather was 70 and breezy. At one point 5.5 moa left windage (33" drift at 600 yds) on the .223.

3-gun forced me to spend most of my training time standing and shooting, quickly and accurately, which is very perishable. When I get in the prone, anything within 300yds is too easy as a result when it comes to making solid hits on steel silhouettes. You have to work really hard to fine-tune your error pattern while standing, and know when to consistently take the shot to get as center a hit as possible.

I would like to take some of these aspects of fast, accurate shooting from 3-gun and put a demand for them in more of the intermediate range stages in long-range matches, where you will see the advantage of a semi-auto platform with a flat trajectory like the .260 Remington/AR10 combo, which are meant for each other.

At BoomerShoot last year, I was able to clean 3 boomers that were 4x6" or 5x7" at 375yds as fast as I could index and pull the trigger, and to see one explode after the other in rapid succession was really a joy. Speaking of terrible conditions, you guys should start looking at signing up for LR1955's Precision Rifle Clinic this year and shooting steel from 375-700yds in totally unpredictable weather and wind conditions in the northern Idaho mountains. You will walk away with a more solid command of you and your rifle/optic/cartridge system's capabilities and limitations.
