Saw that. They seized the weapons from him in Illinois, and eventually released them to his father on the "promise" that he'd keep them secure and away from the son (shooter). Father has admitted that he returned them to the son.

The kid had, from reports, obvious psychological issues for a while.

And, considering that the Waffle House "No Firearms" policy left the customers and store personnel defenseless, in this sad story, it would be fitting if the suspect is apprehended by a law-abiding armed citizen --- and, the story featured in the American Rifleman The Armed Citizen files.

Wishful thinking. He was arrested by police.

Although such a citizen's arrest could have happened during the incident. A customer reportedly managed to wrestle the rifle from the shooter, but then immediately tossed it over the counter instead of using it to apprehend or shoot the killer.

I don't think what you said is what you meant to say because obviously the gunman was attacked and disarmed by one of the "defenseless" people in Waffle House who defended himself and others - James Shaw, Jr.

If you consider yourself to be defenseless because you don't have a gun, then you really need to reevaluate your self defense preparations.

OK -- the police were probably incompetent, and the guys father needs some prison time if he gave the weapons back to his son.

Either tell me what this has to do with the 2A or this will be another 2A thread that ends.

Different departments have different policies for terminating vehicle pursuits. The officers in the report you quoted followed their department's SOP, so I see no issue there.

Because the stolen car was equipped with GPS, the police correctly figured it would be located. I see no issue with their reasoning.

When the stolen car was later located at an apartment complex, the police had no way of knowing if the thief was a resident, or lived elsewhere and abandoned the car there.

So, I guess you're faulting the police for not having psychic powers?
