I've been reading quite a bit about buffers in here and it seems the opinions vary... some will absolutely only use a heavier H1 or H2 buffer, some a standard one. It also seems to depend on barrel length and suppressor use. I'll be using a 18" Faxon heavy fluted barrel with a mid length gas system and an adjustable gas block. The lower is a KE Arms KP15 that requires a carbine length buffer and spring. I am using the lower already with a .223 upper and would, though it won't happen very often, want to be able to switch between both. Currently there is a standard carbine spring and a standard 2.9oz buffer in there. I will run the Grendel exclusively suppressed (30cal can) hence the adjustable gas block. Now my question: is there anything to gain from using a heavier buffer or a jp silent capture spring with that set up? Or is that unnecessary with a properly gassed gun?

My question is, does anyone have experience with the rexus 14.5 barrel and a recommended buffer / spring combo? I have a standard buffer and a springco red that i plan to test out when i get this thing together, but could pull a standard carbine spring from the other rifles to figure out the tuning as well. I am not really wanting to mess with Adjustable gas blocks. i have a .750" 3 prong flash hider that i think was a group buy item years ago i plan to pin and weld to 16".

Still fits the general purpose rifle concept i think with not so much mag that it is unusable up close, but enough mag to make good hunting shots within 150 ish yards on deer / hog size targets in dense brush. My hesitation is 3x mag enough in the woods? i have hunted with 4x and i wish i had more mag mainly for looking at the critters not so much for taking a good shot. Additionally, I've been reading and searching for info about buffer weight. My Grendel ejects nicely, around 4:00, but feels like it slaps open when fired. Wondering about an Odin Works adjustable buffer to play with buffer weight, but also wonder if it's even worth messing with since ejection is good?

Have been reading about scopes for hours and hours, and finally gave up.......will eventually buy something nicer, but for now, installed a fairly inexpensive (but fairly nice) Bushnell lpvo. While not super high-end, their Drop Dot reticle is my favorite.....nice and simple and allows for easy holdovers at the shorter ranges I shoot.

Work in progress for sure....the goal will be to get this cleaned up today, hit the range tomorrow, and over the next 11 months develop a deer hunting load for my son's first hunt.....gonna get him plenty of practice as well.

While nothing fancy, I'll get a pic added once I figure that out :o]]>
