Son's 10 point

My 9 yr old and I had a great hunt last night. For some reason, the rut is a couple of weeks early here in Alabama, and the bucks were really moving. We were hunting over a big cut cornfield next to some flooded timber and this nice 10 point (188 lbs) comes lumbering across the field. My son made a great shot from about 70 yds and drilled both shoulders. The 100 gr TTSX did its job....the buck donkey-kicked at the shot and ran about 30 yds towards us before doing a nosedive into the field. We are both so thankful. He has already killed two nice does this year with the Grendel to feed the family with and this is just a wonderful bonus.

We are using 30 gr of XBR 8208 this year. The past two years we used 30 gr H335. Both loads are good and are essentially identical in performance.

That is just plain awesome.

My daughter (11 y/o) shot a doe last year and a fork buck this year during the youth hunts here in WI. Hopefully we will get to see something like this in a few weeks during regular gun season. It sounds so cliche, but seeing them shoot a deer really is even better than doing it yourself. Congrats.
