I am currently deployed and when i return I know for a fact that I want a 6.5 grendel. I only have one problem. I do not know which brand to buy. Or, should I build one? My budget will be around 1000. I already have a daniel defense ar so I will not need a lower. I just need a complete upper. I have read some reviews regarding Alexander arms, Precision firearms and Loki weapons systems. I want something that will produce .5 MOA or better. What are your recommendations and why. Also, I have read about JP enterprose but believe they only make a complete rifle. Then there is J &T distributing. I am new to this forum and new to the 6.5. I was contemplating .308 but dont want to buy a new lower. Thanks
nate, J&T will probably be the most economical out of the names you listed. JP does sell just a barrel/bolt combo, just have to dig through their website a little. What is your main use gonna be for this rifle and what ranges do you plan to extend it to? that info will help in further recommendations. BTW, welcome to the horde!
My main purpose will be for plinking out to 300 yards in the beginning. I will probably hunt with it as well. Eventually when I retire from military life I would like to get into competitive shooting. Of course by that time it might be too late, I will be 40. The main reason I'm not wanting to go the JP route is I don't know what I would need to do in order to complete the upper receiver. Thats why I wanted a complete set-up.

I just finished a build using a JP 22" cryo supermatch barrel and it is right at 1/2 MOA. I went to a gunsmith and just asked him if he could order the barrel and bolt for me and said it wasn't a problem. A phone call to JP got everything moving and the barrel showed up in about 10 days. The contour of this barrel is sick with a majority of the weight being out towards the muzzle which balances and controls muzzle rise perfectly. When I take a shot, the scope doesn't even rise off target, just a vibrating effect circling around the bullseye. One of the best barrels I've ever purchased but it is on the higher end of the price points.
