A new upper was received a few years ago, builder not identified, and when first fired shot fine for about 20rds, until the gas block fell off, due to a loose allen screw holding it to the barrel. I was without tools at the time, and continued to fire my remaining rounds, manually recharging. I did not notice any difference in the point of impact during this session, but after finished firing, thought maybe the lack of pressure drain could be negative factor in the recycling and pressure factor in my Grendel. No hi pressure signs were noted.
Being from Kalifornia, semiautos are not well appreciated, so maybe removal of the gas block with a plug in the vent hole would be an alternative action to the anti-gunners rant. The resulting rifle would be the same as a bolt gun, requiring manual recharging.
My main question to the smart guys on this forum is: how will this effect chamber pressure, and will there be any negative effect on the rifle overall.. Chas
