Looking for a mid weight barrel.

Hi. I sold my Grendel last year. Mistake number one. Looking for a mid weight 18 inch with a mid length gas. I didn’t like the one I had it was M4 style. Reason being I’m not gonna mount a launcher on it. Don’t know what to get. The one I sold was palmetto state armory. Was wondering if you could point me in the right direction.
A fully assembled upper would be preferred.

For a complete upper the LaRue Tactical ultimate upper gets great reviews. Another upper or barrels that get good reviews is Wilson Combat or JP.

Apologies for my reply if you saw it, after posting it I saw that the uppers did not include bolt carrier groups or charging handles so I deleted the reply.

I understand about the higher price of the LaRue, Odin, Alexander Arms, Wilson Combat or Precision Firearms. With these prices your less likely to have issues and end up with a good shooting rifle. At almost $2 per round for factory ammo getting a lemon barrel gets pretty expensive. The cheapest barrels I have are the Monster logo group buy barrels manufactured to BFT’s specification by either Faxon or more recently Green Mountain.

I have assembled most of my AR-15’s and I’ve been very satisfied with my Monster 6.5 Grendel barrels. The longest 6.5 Grendel barrel currently in stock from Six Five Outfitters is 16”. I’m not sure how long before 18” or 20” 6.5 Grendel barrels are back in stock. You won’t beat the quality for the price offered by BFT. This the only cheap route I would consider but you still end up with a very good quality upper.
