So my mark 5HD 3.6-18x44 has been on backorder since Nov 2020 and will likely remain that way until this Nov. I am still convinced that for the money and the weight it is the best $1700 scope that fits my mission so I plan to keep my backorder in and eventually I will get the scope. In the meantime I am thinking of buying something used or new that is likely to have a good resale value so I can use my rifle. what should I be looking for in a similar zoom and weight package (22 oz.) that I can likely buy and sell in 6-months without taking a bath?

If you want a Mk5, get the Mk5. They hold their value well (try finding a used one, you'll see) and offer a great balance of performance, features, and overall weight.
