Spikes ST-T3 buffer

Im shopping for buffers and was wondering if a Spikes ST-T3 buffer is too heavy for a 16" mid length with a DI 9.9 oz. carrier(minus bolt). What do you guys think? Thanks

At 5.4 oz, I think it should be fine. But it will depend somewhat on other variables (gas port hole size, ammo, buffer spring strength, etc).

I have one on a 16" midlength with a regular carbine spring. Works fine. No noticeable difference from a regular buffer.

There was a fellow that used to post here regularly who builds the WCI muzzle brake that AA sells. He and BA I believe(correct me if I am wrong) found the ideal buffer weight for the Grendel to be 152 grams. That is very close to the T3 weight of 154 grams. I had a light buffer in my Grendel and have an adjustable gas block so was able to balance the light buffer. I bought a camera that allows 1000 frames per second movies, so naturally I shot a close-up of the action cycling. I found that the bolt would bounce about 1/4" to 1/3". I got a H3G buffer from WCI and it practically eliminated the bolt bounce.

Good idea on the camera. I'd like to have that kind of capability myself.

Thanks Rasp65, I'll look into those. I'm pretty camera ignorant (LOL) and I didn't even know that "regular" cameras had those features these days. My brother in law repairs Nikons and other stuff, so I'll ask him what he has floating around. Every so often he gives us a camera, so if I request something with high speed capabilities I might just score a free Nikon.

I love high speed videos of weapon actions during firing. It annoys my wife when I stop something we are watching and do frame by frames of vids on the DVR. Even with broadcast quality stuff you can see a lot sometimes. I always get a kick out of stuff like AKs and such. Some look like a train wreck while firing.LOL!
