Grendel Bren 2 barrel blank source?

Hello,

I was hoping maybe someone here could help me. I'm looking at converting my 7.62x39 Bren 2ms into a 6.5 grendel.

Im trying to find a source for 4150 CMV 6.5mm 7 or 7.5 twist barrel blank but am having a hard time. I'm looking for a shorter blank around 10" so if i cant find 4150cmv i would maybe even settle for somebodies 416 stainless leftover drop if its the right twist.

Id also possibly be interested in having someone make the barrel complete for me if interested. Ideally i'm looking at getting the barrel made in 4150cmv and then having it nitrided after the machine work.

These barrels are pressed and pinned into the extension so there's no dealing with indexing or reaming after installation to get headspace. The Bren bolts are bigger in diameter than an AR15 and have a nice thick extractor. The breach face of the barrel has a relief milled into it to clear the extractor.

Does anybody here know of a potential source?

Cool and interesting idea. Would grendel feed from the special 7.62x39 mags that the bren2 uses?

I think you can get a barrel blank, however you’ll need to find a place that can contour the barrel and have the equipment to press the barrel into place.

I’d look at smiths that have done AK builds since they would have the equipment and experience.

I would reach out to Ken he does great work and has done builds that a lot of people haven’t.

A while back I was looking to re-barrel a CZ.I believe it was Pac Nor that had CZ barrels. But I realized after the barrel and a gunsmith to put it in, I was better off just buying a complete new CZ rifle.
