I'm in west Texas and recently found a Howa 6.5g with a Nikko Stirling 4x16 for sale at a hardware store. I was not very familiar with cartridge, or scope, and never owned a Howa. So after some research, I decided to pick it up hopefully for a hog gun. It was a kit deal, all camouflage. I found this site doing my research, Looks like a lot of knowledge here.

Welcome to the forum JoyJack! One of the biggest criticism about Howa Mini Actions is the magazine. Jefferson Outdoors sell a flush bottom internal mag conversion which is proving very popular. Several forum members have reinforced the front of the Howa stock.

There are a couple companies making replacement bottom metal/trigger guards which are also popular.

Welcome to the clan, JJ, from another loyal Texian! THe Howa is a fun little gun. You will like it. The NS scopes are good scopes for the money. I put a Boyd's At-One stock on my Howa, shoulda picked a different one although it is a good stock.

Shot the Howa and it is fun gun. The Nikko scope seems to not be able to focus above 14, even at extreme distance. I was wanting a vortex anyway so we'll see. Yeah the magazine leaves a lot to be desired.

Not as good at boresighting as I used to be, took a few to get it on paper, then walked it down. Group is the last 4 shells I carried with me.
