Chamber Carbon rings

Well I broke down and bought a bore scope. Now I see carbon rings in three of my rifle. Recommendations on removing them? Solvents? Scrubbing? Anyone have success removing them, I would appreciate some feedback. Thx.

Get some spray foam bore cleaner. Fill the barrel from chamber too crown and let sit till it's done.

Get a brass chamber brush wet with clp, Chuck it into a cordless drill, 20 seconds of cleaning, patch it clean and dry, repeat chamber brush on drill with clp one more time, repeat dry patch.

Then clean bore.

Every 300 to 400 rounds should be gtg. That's what I do on my rifles and haven't had a carbon ring issue yet.

Hoppe’s #9 , a bore brush and plenty of patches.You can also use JB bore cleaner. Apply with a mop and then use plenty of patches.

I honestly think if you use a chamber brush on a t handle every couple cleanings you will be fine. I also think overzealous cleaning does more damage than good. You guys would be shocked at how little maintenance it takes to keep AR’s running reliably.

Most guys who’s lives or livelihoods depend on these rifles put less than 5 minutes into cleaning them and honestly that’s all they need. Spin a t-handled chamber brush in the chamber/ extension, brush the bore, wipe it all out (receiver too), punch the bore/chamber with a clean dry patch. Disassemble the bolt, wipe it all down with a solvent soaked rag, wipe it clean, oil it put her back together. Done.

Now cleaning a match rifle, that’s a different story.
