What up fellas?
Hope everyone had a good Christmas and is looking forward to 2020.
That being said,I went to the range yesterday to sight in a scope.Met an old gun club acquaintance who comes up from FT Lauderdale.He had a present for me.100 shiny once fired Hornady 6.5 CM cases.Kinda shocked because he shoots that cal and is a hand loader.
Anyway,I went home and tumbled the brass.Got it deprimed,resized trimmed and primed before sleeping.Loaded up 50rds before work.I knew I had a short day today,just grouting a shower I built.So I put the my rifle,ammo and bag in my truck before work.
Got paid,had lunch and at the range by 12noon.My 6.5 CM rifle is a Savage 12LRP. 26 in very heavy barrel.One inch at muzzle.Great trigger that I have set at 1 lb 7 oz.And it has the HS precision stock which I drilled and installed a Matthew Fabrication riser.This thing shoots like a dream.One hole groups at 200 yrds.Never did a thing to it other than the cheek riser.Best factory rifle I ever owned.Sub moa since sight in.
On the way home I was dreaming that Savage would someday produce a model 12LRP in 6.5 Grendel.Or any bolt action Savage model in that cal.
6.5 Grendel has been around for almost 10 yrs now.Savage needs to bust a move on this.I looked this up on the internet and found nothing.Does anyone know anything about savage producing a 6.5 Grendel?
Sorry I was a bit long winded with this.I smoked a little belated Christmas present my customer slipped me with the check.Now I am hungry.

Just emailed Savage last week about putting out a Grendel anytime soon! They said no, no immediate plans to do a Grendel.

Was hoping to hear good news about a Savage Grendel.I guess my choices in factory 6.5 Grendel bolt actions remain slim.I like CZ 527 varmint rifles.But,I am leaning towards a Ruger Predator,because it is easier to customize than a CZ.More aftermarket parts.
Myself being a southpaw shooter, I hope Savage comes out with a bolt 6.5Grrr like the 110 Tactical! I just purchased 1 in 6.5CM, it has the bottom metal that takes the AICS mags, 24'' 1in8 twist with a threaded muzzle, took it out for the 1st time on the 28th to breakin the barrel, I only fired 15rnds of Hornady 147gn Match, it shot .78moa out of the box with factory ammo! I also added a Ultradyne APPLO S break, this is a very sweet shooter!!!!

Savage has a reputation for making accurate shooting rifles,from their budget line on up.And from what I have seen,it is true.
I have several Savage Rifles, LH bolts, I will usually pick up a cheap version of a mod10 or 111, short action and use the action only because Savage makes a strong action, and I build a custom rifle off of the action, I have a friend who builds competition rifles out of NC, Who full blue prints my actions, then I will purchase all the other bits to build the rifle, barrel, trigger, stock, bottom metal {etc] The only reason I have not built a 6.5Grrr of a short action is because my buddy told me the action is to long for the 6.5Grrr, their will be feeding issues with the magazine length to the feed ramp, so I'll wait till Savage starts to build a factory rifle in this caliber

I gave up on the conversion and went back to the factory setup. Believe the OP’er got his running, at least well enough. I could either get the first 4 or the last single round to feed, never all of them. Drove me crazy. OTOH, I can’t make the Howa misfeed, jam. So I haven’t shot the Predator since.

That sounds frustrating.I had thought about the Howa mini action.Saw one at the range.Hate the mags.One of the things I like about the RAP is that it uses AR mags.But,I do not want to have to deal w/misfeeds and jams.I would get an MDT chassis.But,I have heard they had some problems using AR mags too.
I have 2 AR Grendel builds that are tack drivers.I can wait indefinitely .I don’t need another project gun to tinker with.
Just had to chime in about the Savage rifles, I built my Creed with a mod 12 action and love it. But for a Grendel bolty I'd go with the CZ. I've been impressed with the CZ452 I use for our 22 Rimfire league. [ATTACH=CONFIG]15198[/ATTACH]

I own several 452 & 455. Great shooters!Get a $30 yo Dave trigger spring kit and you’re set for life!
Also own a CZ 550 .308 and two 527 in 223 cal. All heavy varmint barrels.All three shoot MOA and better. They are of value considering all I ever had to do to them was change the triggers w/a $115 timney adjusable.I hated the set trigger. Put a DIP Picatinny rail scope base and some kind of check riser.Mods were unde $200.
I was looking into the CZ MTR 6.5 Grendel for a while. I could get one for around $800 delivered. Only mods I would need are a DIP rail and maybe a cheek rest of some kind. For $900 I’d be good to go.It comes with an 2.25-4.95 lb adjustable trigger. The rifle alone weighs 9 pounds which would be perfect for some long-range work.
What has got me at a standstill Is that I actually like the Ruger predator. And the fact that it uses AR magazines is a plus for me.And mods are available. Only thing is that it will be a project gun. Right now I’m in the process of finishing three ARs I started waay back and I don’t want another project.

back in stock for like $25.29. Finally. Got enough of them coming to last me the life of this gun and the 7.62x39 I have.
CZ will be here end of the week. My intent was to chop it down to 18”, but if it’s a shooter right out the box............probably just leave it alone and enjoy the higher speeds, at least for a while.

That is something I dislike about most current production firearms.They are all project guns.I guess it’s because companies have to keep their costs down in order to compete.
That is why I am hoping for a Savage 12 LRP in 6.5 Grendel.Sure the gun costs $1200.But,there are no upgrades I immediately would need.
You buy a $500 rifle and by the time to get it like you want it,you have spent more on upgrades than you spent on the rifle.

Maybe it’s just the CZ 6.5 Grendel mags.Because my 550 varmint .308 and 527 varmint .223 mags are fine.I’ve had those rifles for years and I have used all kinds of bullets never a hiccup of any kind.

Ok I’ll bite, what’s your problem with the CZ mags?
The Howa mags work fine, great actually. I just don’t like plastic magazines in general, and especially ones with plastic feed lips.
The only issue I have with the CZ Grendel mags is, they’re a little “fiddlely” to load. Other than that, and only having 5 rounds, I like them. A lot! YMMV.
In fact, liked the CZ Grendel so much, just got another CZ 527 in 17 Hornet. And the wood with that is even better than the Grendel! I lucked out twice!
I’m getting ready to grab another one, probably the “7.62x39” this time. I’m digging the mini Mauser action, walnut and metal mags!
