Science This 200 Yard Shot Anomaly

It looks like two projectiles flying thru the air. Kind of like a double tap.

It looks like the bow wave of the bullet is striking the water just before the bullet arrives.

I am going to say the first projectile is the Amax's ballistic tip.

There are 2 splashes, a light splash then a heavier splash when the bullet impacts behind the tip.

I have shot thousands of A-maxs, have never heard of or seen that reaction before.

That’s what I thought but I don’t think that is what he wants us to see.

He tell us to focus on the point of impact. I think I see a slight splash just before the bullet hits the board.

It appears the shock wave is reflecting off the water's surface as the bullet approached the target.

You shoot 6.5 caliber but whatever the explanation may be, would it not apply to external ballistics is near all calibers given the same conditions ?

Found a Smarter Every Day video that looks at the shock wave generated. My money is on the shock wave hitting the water.

I have sent thousands of rounds downrange as a F class shooter and never seen that effect over water but in the right conditions I have seen vapor trails leading into the target

LOL, shooting OVER water is perfectly safe. It is the shooting INTO water where ricochets are apt occur. That alone is not potentially unsafe. Ricochets occur off of the ground can travel a heck of a lot farther than people think also.
