Is a BLR Grendel posible?

I have always thought the Browning BLR carbine and the Grendle would be perfect together. But the BLR can not be rebarreled. However, the barrel can be reborred to 6.5, if you started with a .223. Maybe all that then would be needed would be to open up the bolt face and work the extractor. Does anyone out there in threadland know if this can be done? Thanks

If it were me and I just had to have a 6.5 lever action at any cost, I'd get their .243 and have it rebored into a 260 Remington.

In my non-expert opinion, it looks as if it might be possible, but I've no idea who'd be willing and able to do the job.

I have 2 BLRs. One in .308 and one in .243. My Dad originally purchased them and I used the .308 for deer hunting for years. After I built my Grendel, the BLRs never came out of the safe. The BLRs I have are not the take down model, but there is nothing that a BLR chambered in 6.5 Grendel would do better than an AR15 chambered in that caliber unless you are restricted from using the AR15 platform. The Grendel is a great cartridge BECAUSE it fits in the AR15. The BLR will take larger cases. I believe you can even get a WSM in a BLR now. The BLR lacks the modular design of the AR15 and unless you just have to have something different, your money would be much better spent on a quality AR15 or if you need a lever gun, you could stick with one of the fine calibers that the BLR comes in and not have to deal with the feeding problems that you might create.

Just thinking- how much fun it would be to show up at hunting camp with a BLR Grendel.Lots of guys got bolt actions in every caliber-ho hum. Maybe a couple guys with AR10s and AR15s in deer calibers again this year-ho hum. But that beautiful little BLR in that beautifull efficient Grendel would bring a lot of intrest.
