I recently bought a GrendelHunter upper for my AR carbine, which until now has seen only the original 5.56 upper. Empty brass is being flung well forward of the muzzle, making the 5.56 brass seem a very local thing. Since the 6.5G is a more powerful round, am I simply seeing the results of a more rambunctious recoil reaction, one that can be tamed by a heavier buffer?
It would be a sad thing indeed if I were forced to buy another (dedicated) lower receiver, but some days we just have to do what we must......

What gas system and what is the gas port diameter?
What load are you shooting?

Seems overgassed.. with the big gas port in a mid length system. Id suggest an adjustable gas block first and foremost.

There's the thing that is causing your cyclic rate to go crazy, which is why your cases are being thrown forward.
You can also use an adjustable gas carrier from 2A, Bootleg, or Gemtech.
Another option is an adjustable gas key from Sun Devil or RCA.
I think the adjustable carriers are the easiest to adjust and make no difficult changes to the rifle. You simply adjust them through the ejection port.

I bought an upper from them as well, and am very happy with it so far. Anyways, I was curious about which buffer he recommended, and told him I currently was using a Spikes T2 buffer. He said he uses that one as well and has had good luck with it. Honestly, I think that buffer is the best $40 you can spend on a lower. Ive been using it for a while now even with my 556 upper, and I would say it cut the recoil in half vs the mil spec buffer. And not a single malfunction. Both the 556 and the 6.5 brass eject consistantly at 4:00.

Off topic, but can an adjustable carrier or key "tinker" more with your timing than an AGB will?

I have a T2 and flat spring in my primary AR lower (M&P 15 MOE). The stock upper is overgassed and that combo of buffer and spring really helped. Well worth the low cost. When I put the BCA Grendel upper on it, I don't feel like it's doing anything it shouldn't, though to be fair I've only put about 150 rounds through it so far.
