Interestingly, the 30 Stewart fires a 30 caliber 114 grain bullet over 4198 powder at 2980 FPS. This is a pretty stout load.

So why did I put this here? Because the 30 Stewart uses fire formed Lapua 6.5 Grendel brass!

In doing a little more research, I found that the record holder fireforms the brass at least 8 times before using it in matches. He also notes that he has brass fireformed in this manner that has been loaded and fired 500 times!!! That's 500 times with a pretty dang stout load and he says he has never lost a piece of brass to damage that has been processed his way.

So I guess my 20+ loadings on my Grendel brass is pretty mild!!

I'm going to suggest that he uses a tight chamber and has straightline dies matched explicitly to the chamber.

With the minimal brass working that comes from the close match of dies and chamber he will get very long brass life. This is why benchresters are able to run the 6mm PPC case well past the design pressure and still have 8 to 10 firings per case before the case starts to let go of primers.

the schuetzen rifle shooters use the same piece of brass every time and often only have one or 2 pieces for the rifle granted it gets used as a powder holder and the bullets are manually seated into the breach but still the brass gets shot thousands of times all be it at very low pressure, brass can be very resilient
