I'm curious as to what length barrels Horde members have on their Grendel ARs.
If you wish to participate in the poll, please select the length(s) closest to what is on your Grendel AR(s).
Examples: 14.5" barrel, select 14"; 19.5" barrel, select 20"
P.S. The poll permits multiple choices.
======
ETA: Yes, I know it's discrimination to restrict the poll to AR15-type Grendels, but I'm not interested in other types of rifles or pistols.

Why would you want to snub Bwaites like that? : D
JK, he is the only one I can think of right off that has a tube outside that range. He mentioned he has a 28" I think.
I just got my Lilja 18.5" barrel short chambered by AA, so it's now a 17 5/8" barrel from crown to breech without bolt.
The other Lilja 18" pipes are 18 3/8" by my rough measurement.
I get 2500fps with the 123gr A-MAX on top of 31.2gr of CFE223, not even trying to push it. Factory A-MAX is 2450fps avg from the 16" AA pipe. Pressure trace equipment seems to indicate that factory Hornady A-MAX is running at a comfortable 49,000psi.
Factory 123gr SST clocked 2602fps from one of the 20" Lilja barrels when I took it out.
Somehow I ended up with a bunch of 18" barrels, to include Satern and Lilja. 18" is what I wanted in the beginning, but wasn't fast enough with a Midway checkout to get one, so I jumped on the 16" barrel/bolt combo back in 2009. I've been really impressed with the 16" performance, which has exceeded my expectations by over 500yds, since I initially relegated it to a 700yd carbine at best. I actually need a 20 MOA cant mount for it now, since I've seen what it can do at 1200yds and farther.

Note that the 18" 6.5G is at or near the top of the ranking, and like the 18" 223, it will work well with either midlength or rifle gas.

I guess he'll just have to click on 26" as the closest length... :o

Probably about as likely I was mistaken anyhow. LOL

That same ammo is averaging 2641 fps through my 22" BHW. 2620 was low, 2692 high. Not a tremendous improvement over an 20" tube, really.

With the ADM Recon 20MOA recon, my 6-24x50 PST can easily dial in 1000 yards, but much over that, I need to employ hold-over.

I had already voted with my 16 and 20 inch barrels, when I saw that there was no 28" I just didn't worry about it. There are no more than a big handful of 28" barrels out there anyways. 28" barrels need an overlength gas system to get max performance, my rifle length system runs great with factory ammo, but doesn't allow much pushing of the envelope. That's fine, as it shoots factory Hornady great, and 107 Sierras lights out.

Oh, but I didn't invent that 28" one in my imagination. Well, that is good news. I will run into the other room and tell my wife there is at least one point on which her claims of my mental atrophy are NOT substantiated. That should be good for a laugh. : )

I picked 24 but the Lilja AR24 barrels are 23 inches from muzzle to the end of the barrel extension. I guess it would be closer to 22 inches now that I think about it.

Barrels are measured traditionally (and by BATF) from the muzzle to the bolt face which, in the case of the AR15, is about 1/2" shorter than to the barrel extension.

What am I? A Leper?
I can't belive I'm the only one with a 10.5" barrel so far. And only three 14.5" barrels (counting one of mine)? I guess the 6.8SPC marketing crew must have done a real number on the SBR crowd. Good thing the deer never heard that hype. They might refuse to fall over dead.LOL
I wanted to also mark 12" for my pending 12.5" build, but I figured that'd be cheating since I don't have the barrel yet.

Might actually be something to that, they certainly are in lock-step when it comes to their "talking points." I see it all the time on AR15.com. Funniest thing I saw, though, was some 6.8er quoting to StanC, "Well, you, know, it's definitely proven that the 6.5 Grendel won't work in a belt-fed." Right, Stan?
Never ceases to amaze me how people really are "sheeple." Just read a of a psych experiment where people would rather say that 2 + 2 = 5 if they felt they wouldn't be accepted by the peer group. Guys on AR15.com will ask, "Guys, what gun should I build?"
Anyway, Wolf ammo should help feed the 65G SBR market.

Have a new 24 inch in the safe all ready to go. The problem (is not a problem) the scope and rings and monopod are going on the 4th week at the shop getting Cerakoted. It is a pain looking at this rifle just waiting for a scope to go shoot it. 18 and a 24 both by Mr. MH at PF. BANG BANG!!

Yeah. I am constantly astounded at how many people will read something which isn't actually there.
To use the example in your first paragraph, I wrote, "It will be more difficult to design metallic links for 6.5 Grendel than for 6.8 SPC."
But, in the minds of 6.8 fans, that somehow became, "6.5 Grendel won't work in a belt-fed."

IMNSHO, I'd put responsibility for the dearth of Grendel SBRs more on 6.5 Grendel marketing. I don't imagine many people would opt to use a short barrel for what is touted as a long range cartridge.
Heck, the Alexander Arms website no longer even advertises rifles or uppers with barrels shorter than 16 inches. And I can think of only two people (you and Fortier) who say much about 6.5 SBRs.
Contrast that to 6.8 SPC gun makers, who offer many rifles with barrels less than 16 inches, and the multitude of 6.8 fans who constantly talk about how good that cartridge is in short barrels.
Plus, searching YouTube shows a number of videos which showcase 6.8 SBRs, but not so much as a single Grendel SBR video.
Is it any wonder that 6.5 Grendel is not perceived as a good SBR caliber?

I distinctly remember AA stating that the Grendel out of a 10.5 inch barrel has the trajectory of the 7.62x39 out of an standard length AK. Seems like a pretty good deal for a SBR.

Maybe it's the new Common Core math, but the percentages seem to be off. Current total adds up to over 140%.
10" - 1 - 1.20%
12" - 2 - 2.41%
14" - 4 - 4.82%
16" - 17 - 20.48%
18" - 31 - 37.35%
20" - 28 - 33.73%
22" - 7 - 8.43%
24" - 28 - 33.73%
26" - 1 - 1.20%
