Ok, looking for input and opinions. As it seems like the the popular thing to do now, i'm going to build a short grendel(ish). But right now i'm torn between two barrel options.
I currently have a 24" Stoner that i am pretty sure is grendel II or whatever that mess is. Shoots 123SST's great, but have set it aside since getting my Lilja. It is too long. I am debating between having that barrel cut down to 12.5" and purchasing a BHW 12.5". They just happen to be 20% off this month (FYI).
I'm not sure what cutting the stoner down will run me, as i believe i know someone who would be capable, but dont have a stamp to ask yet. Also to consider, i'd like to shoot some of the lighter (100gr) projos through this and dont' know how the LBC is at grouping these.
Also not out of the realm of possibilities is talking to Mark about doing this job for me and fixing my goofy chamber.
I'm leaning towards BHW bc who can have too many barrels....but i just don't know.

My BHW barrel shot light bullets excellent. I am no gunsmith but a rlgs cut that short would make your GB your muzzle device.

Yea what is your profile on that 24" barrel. How much is the BHW? You could jump in the group buy with us and get a Grendel Chamber in your 12.5" barrel.

Heavy profile on the 24". Would have to be re-profiled a bit, i believe. I know my guy could do it, but not sure if that would cause a problem(hadn't thought about that)? Also, based on my quick figgerin', i believe chopping the barrel just behind the current port gives me 12.5"?
BHW runs $192 right now....i guess i missed the thread on the gb? Info?

Your 24" rifle gassed barrel should have just enough meat to make a 12.5" out of it, but....

Yeah I would just buy the BHW. First it will be costly to reprofile your 24" That is serious lathe time. You can just cut it down and recrown it yourself with a crowning tool from PTG but you would have to send it to a smith to get threaded for a comp. I don't think you want a naked muzzle on an SBR.
If you decide to sell the Stoner 24 and buy the BHW ping me. I amy be interested in buying it.

The BHW is a good price and will likely be very accurate. However, it won't be as versatile as the SAAMI Grendel Chamber.

Hey man did you ever decide on a barrel? There's still time to jump on a Lilja SBR, with a nitrided barrel.

Yep, decided to go with the BHW. Mostly because i found a nice aero precision nitrided 10.5" 300blk out that i figured i would go ahead and jump in to, and that plus the BHW ran me less than the Lilja. Now i will probably sell the stoner and fund the new builds. Good luck with the buy though. If the BHW doesn't work out and you are still looking i may be interested, but i suspect the BHW is going to get me where i want to go.

Yep - seldom have I sold a firearm I didn't regret selling, later. Only once did I sell one I was glad to be rid of (century WASR10, w/ custom auto-windage (15 MOA) built into the front sight. Also had an extra capacity mag well, designed for 1 1/2 magazines.)

Not likely - a skilled monkey would never have let that one out the door. I'm sure it was produced in a region where prevailing winds were 120+ mph and always from the right. Any ideas where that may have been? Tierra del Fuego, perhaps?
