Shipping a Pistol

I wasn't sure where to post this, so I thought I'd just stick it here.

I've been trying to pick up an XDm 45 compact at a good price, but the expensive required overnight shipping keeps killing the deal. So I was thinking.....

With an AR15 you can ship all the components directly from individual to individual by any shipping means preferred, as long as the lower goes through an FFL, assuming an out of state transaction.

Could this not be applied to a pistol? Ship everything, other than the serialized lower, from individual to individual, via economical shipping. Then stick the serialized lower in a small flat rate box and ship it to the FFL.

Thoughts, please.

So I got an email back from my FFL, and this is legit.

I have bought pistol frames, t/c contender, sti 2011, stainless race glock frame, they were all able to be shipped standard ground

also hand guns can be shipped complete via usps priority mail from ffl to ffl so depending where you are buying the gun from that is also an option

for the most part i have found that when purchasing a new handgun if you have a reasonable dealer the mark up vs shipping and transfer fee is usually within a few dollars of each other so i will usually just buy direct from my dealer

I'm looking to buy used. The price on new right now on the XDm 45 compact is inflated at ~$625, because it's new and in demand. I figure by next summer they'll be in the $550 range, as this was the case with the XDs's. I'm looking to get one in my hands for no more than $525, to include ffl fee.

It's not used but free shipping, you can knock some off with the make an offer and it's new. No idea what your FFL charges.

if you consider the shipping 2 boxes priority insured vs just paying for the ups overnight your only saving like $10 seems like a lot of hassle but to each their own, good luck

I haven't actually quoted the price, I'm just going off the feedback from the sellers. According to them it's normally in the $50+ range.

Also check for others on there if you do buy from them, they do have a used one on there for like $15 less. I just grabbed the first link I saw.
