Yes, his first. I am also building him a Grendel. He wants the 26 Nosler because he read about the 'flat to 400 yds' thing, and got all sorts of excited about the retained velocity of the bullet. We'll see what happens.

RSAUM will outperform the Nosler 26? Not hardly. The Nosler 26 has almost 50% more powder capacity.

BUT...its a much bigger case, too. The RSAUM might have better barrel life, though.

Ok here's the stupid question of the day. Is it SAUM or RSAUM or is it essentially referring to the same chambers?

I do at least know SAUM is short action ultra magnum, I think.

Since Winchester went to court over the rights to WSM, with someone already trademarking Short Magnum, I'm assuming Remington wanted as much distance as possible when they came out with their version, so they added that "Action" and "Ultra" to really differentiate it.

The barrel life is a lot better! The best part is the accuracy will not erode very quickly, take a look at the guys over at the Hide and they have over 3000 rounds with no decrease in any accuracy.
I shoot a Lazzeroni Warbird using the 150 grain bullet I am getting awesome MV= 3707 zeroed at 200 I get a drop of only 6.7" at 400 yards and with a 300 yard zero I get the same 6.7 " of drop.

I can't figure out the miracle that allows twice the life from the 6.5 SAUM, when the physics don't make sense.

George says he only runs it between 55,000 and 58,000psi. Do you know what pressures you are running the WSM with 180's by any chance?
