Fire forming with 7.62x39 RWS brass

Anyone have any experience with this brass? I'm looking for a cheaper option than lapua or hornady for blasting and hunting situations.

I have done the search.... Can't search for RWS, word too short. Searching for "RWS brass" gets you every thread with the word brass. I have searched for and read all the threads about fireforming, nothing there mentions RWS.

Shouldn't be any different than other brass. Just work up to the load needed to fire form. And as long as you keep the loads moderate, you should be able to get several reloads out of it.

If you are not recovering the brass, then it is somewhat of an economical option.

Lapua is cheaper in the long run based on how many loads you will get. RUAG Ammotec is a well-established distributor in Europe and the US, carrying the RWS line. Should be pretty top notch brass in terms of 7.62x39.

Fireform them with the bullet free technique first. Saves on bullets and barrel wear.

Also make sure you check case capacity and compare to AA and Lapua. X39 brass has been known to have substantially less capacity.

My Grendel brass has a case capacity of 36.5-37gr of H20. My x39 IMI brass has less than 33.5gr of H20.

That was my thought too. Have a couple hundred Sierra 85 grainers on the way. Not much else available right now for inexpensive bullets.

I've used 2230/x-terminater fireforming win and rem brass and got good accuracy with the 85HP's.
I tried to find some cheap new 7.62x39 brass but couldn't find any.
The once fired old stuff I had laying around worked good.
Wish I kept more of it around but got rid of most after selling my mini-thirty and polytech AK.

Got some Lapua 7.62x39 brass coming.
My Win brass won't last very long.
Probably going to shoot the shorter bullets the most anyway.
Midway has a 15 percent off thing going on now so the higher price isn't so expensive.
