Anyone hear of Grendel II using a 6.5x47 Laupa throat?

I figured it got erased. I quoted his reference to Lilja, say "I hope you have hard evidence. I know you don't as the Lilja barrels are Grendel chambered per the SAAMI spec."

Whats the story with this guy other than the Barrel issues.

I respectfully say I am disapointed/dismayed by this thread. I have a few grendels by AA that shoot great. I have a grendel reamed by PTG, it shoots great. I have a grendel by Walther that had had to stop saying it was a grendel, and it shoots great. And they all shoot the same. Surely, if the grendel chamber can be tweaked in some way to improve it, we all want that improved chamber. Is everybody arguing about a distinction that makes no difference? If there is a difference with either chambers performence, we should be arguing the pros and cons of the cambers not their names.

LOL Well...that would do it I reckon.

The issue is that there is a distinction. The Lapua is meant for longer loads. The Grendel is meant for short, medium, and long(ish) loads. So where the Grendel is a jack of all trades that is only prohibited by the longest of bullets (like 140g), the Lapua is known to do well in 123-140g but falters with common lighter loads. They are two distinct designs. There's also the fact that Satern is taking the legitimate name of the Grendel spec (that went through standardization), calling their out of spec products Grendel, and then using the name to promote their cannibalization as a legitimate spec when it is in fact an wildcat.

Let's say you owned a company that made a certain new style of car suspensions, and then someone changed a fundamental component but tried to play it off as having the same, safe product while actually causing safety concerns. Would you not take issue to them taking your product name? Because that's what's happening here.

I honestly don't care what they call it and the name isn't what has most of us enraged.. They ****ed up the chamber and to cover their *** they are polishing the turd instead of reaming it right.

+1: additionally, without sufficient published test results for Muzzle Velocity, pressure, and accuracy.

The thing that is really sad is that these Liberty barrels seem to really shoot well, and not all of them had problems with the chamber being short, while enough of them did, to include pressure signs, pulled bullets and dumped powder...with factory loads.

If Liberty barrels could just get ahead of the customer concerns that were voiced in the beginning, and turn the throats with a modified finish reamer to bring them into spec, there would be a reputation of addressing the problem and making customers happy. No harm, no foul.

From what I can gather, there was a doubling down, a series of contradicting statements were made, "the chambers are in spec", "the chambers were always short", "we can't be responsible for ammunition manufacturers making ammo that won't fit out chambers", "we have a new chamber design anyway" (based on another entirely different cartridge meant for high pressure bolt guns). Those are the cliff notes basically.

Has anyone sent this link to satern? Are they aware of the increasing discontent of what is going on? I am aware that other calibers like 308 for example...people cut varying chambers all the time but the bottomline is even if GAP chambers one way and say DPMS does it their way....they all will shoot factory ammo. Never heard anyone blame the ammo companies before.

I guess their hoping by providing another chamber, ,,, their gonna try to ride this thru. Ive seen to many companies either succeed or fail due to internet

cst...they are aware (but seemingly don't care).

I can safely say that they are aware. XCR has asked Steve Satern to join his board to "handle technical questions". I wouldn't suggest posting any questions regarding the disposition of the barrels on that board, though. Apparently, dissension is not tolerated, and is scrubbed from the postings.

Sounds like a great opportunity for someone who is still permitted on that forum to ask Mr. Satern to explain the Grendel II - how it differs from the rest of the Grendel chamber variants, performance tests, ability to handle a broad range of projectiles, etc.

That sounds like something someone would say if they were only interested in drama and were a shill for either the AA empire or those rascals with shoddy ammo manufacturers.

That has been tried sir.

I took a brand new Liberty Grendel build out back for testing today that I am giving to my son. I wanted to make sure is worked flawlessly and it did. About 20 plus rounds with no issues, now he needs his own ammo. 18" Liberty Barrel with a Maxim Bolt, and 100 yards, 3/4" MOA I got on the first 3 rounds and he was getting 1-1/2" groups as he was so excited to have his own Grendel. Pretty happy, no pressure issues or anything out of the ordinary. This barrel was from a batch after the short chamber issue came about. Yes the factory rounds get put in the chamber snug, but extract fine and are the same fit as my older Liberty Barrel.

He's so happy I think he took it in his room, I said, what are you gona sleep with it. He said its just a little too hard. Its laying there while hes watching TV. Pretty funny, he's 21 too. I think the shot gun is going to gather dust now. And he talking about reloading already. I think I'll need to lock my Ammo..

Definitely look up the supplies, my son is 21 and has never been shy about pulling the trigger! Who am I kidding I still support both of our shooting habits. He pays for what he can and First National Dad covers the rest.

Well I voiced my opinion on his site and reply to a pm from xcr, but I guess he didn't see things my way because I was banned from the site in under a half hour from registering. That has to be some kind of record, it's a personal best for me.
