Liberty barrel no land marks

So I thought this was interesting, Couldn't find any Hornady in stock. I ended up getting 123 Scenars from PF. There 2.24 col. Weird thing is I don't have the land marks. Anybody know if the shape of the scenar puts the contact point farther back than the amax or is my chamber just not short?

Mine chambered the Scenars fine. But the throat on mine is very short

Welcome to the forum.

Lapua Scenars have a secant ogive, so they are less likely to contact the lands that close to the neck, but do transition well through the initial shallow leade.

My most accurate loads have been from Precision Firearms with the 123gr Scenar, with a 7fps Extreme Spread on top of that.

Try a Hornady 123gr SST factory load when you can get one.

If you plant to keep the barrel, it actually might shoot that load very well, but you also will want to see how much jump there is with that bullet in your chamber. If there is only a few thousandths of jump, it will build pressure faster into the peak of the pressure curve.

I'm planning on reloading either way, I'm curious to find some amaxs. I'm planning on this rifle being a dedicated paper puncher for the most part. I'm hoping it will work out ok as is. I bedded the barrel with loctite before all the short chamber stuff came up. I'm sure I could get it apart but doesn't sound like fun.

So more fun. My bolt measures 2.800. I am reading right that that is definitely out of spec. Face looks to be .132 with calipers. I take it I should call satern monday about getting a new bolt. This is a lot of work for a gun I haven't even got to shoot yet. Starting to wish I had shelled out for a better barrel.

The maxim bolt that came with my barrel has the correct specs.
I've haven't had any pressure signs handloading with my barrel.
Been using a pistol cleaning rod to smooth out the throat area.
I use a nylon brush covered by a patch with JB's on it and stroking it back and forth in the tight throat.
I clean a barrel a lot during the first 50 rounds so it hasn't been that much more than a regular barrel breakin.
I have shot the 123 SST's with 30.8 grains CFE at 2.233 COL and they were accurate and will fall out of the chamber now with the extra cleaning and throat brushing.
I wish it came with the throat being around 30 to 40 thou longer but it might work OK in the long run.
I won't need to worry about chasing the throat.
It shoots the short bullets like the 85 grain sierra very well.
