ejection port size

I'm told the ejection port needs to be on the high end of the spec.
What size is spec? How big is your port?
I have 2 billet uppers and I do own a mill, so I can open her up if needed.

A regular ejection port is fine. No need to go hogging anything out. I've been shooting a 6 PPC, same body size, for quite a few years and never had an issue.

I would be very interested to learn who said the standard ejection port is inadequate, and what their justification is.

Hey, I'm glad to see this thread. Last night I got to wondering if the 6.5 Grendel ejection port was larger than for 5.56mm. Almost started a thread to ask that question. Now I don't have to. Thanks!

It's the same as a stock 5.56 port. Same cover work on both, they wouldn't if they were different!

Bill, all I know is that page on the AA site says:

"Grendel specific ejection port"

Why would AA put that note in the tech specs, if the port dimensions are the same as for 5.56 ports?

IIRC, there's a lip around the ejection port, against which the cover rests. Is there anything to prevent that lip from being reduced slightly, enough to open the port a bit more, yet still allow use of the standard 5.56 cover?

One of my Grendels is built on a standard AR-15 5.56 upper. There are zero issues. I do recall reading that about AA uppers a couple years ago. Maybe there's a misprint/was mixed up with the 50B?

FWIW,IIRC, and all that stuff: Bill A. Was the one who stated it originally on the old site. He mentioned that not every AR upper was exactly to spec, and that some had tighter ejection ports. He said that a regular AR upper receiver would work fine as long as it was to the larger side of spec, or some such.

Personally: I've never encountered a receiver that had too small of an ejection port for the Grendel, but I haven't tried every single one. FWIW: I can't recall anyone ever posting about having any issue along those lines either.
