I want to build a nice Ar, one i'm not going to sell or part with my starting point is a new saturn 18" barrel and bolt just show up thanks to the brown truck today.I was thinking maybe a DS arms set with mo^on ^abe on the side or a mega billet set but i'm up in the air on what i want there.Plus im not a big build your self on the ar's and this one i want to be really nice i'm putting all the best parts i can in this one from the stocks to the glass on top. This is the standout in the gun case.The one that draws everyone eye right away. plus my sabre defence heavy target model is getting to be that heavy i love to shoot it so im going to build its replacement for going out all the time hunting or playing

Billet upper/lower from Precision Firearms or Seekins. Megas are nice, the others are tighter and you won't see a similar one every time you turn around.

If you want my opinion, get the billet set like bwaites mentioned, unless you have the tools to true-up regular forged uppers. I'm going through a bunch of uppers right now and truing them with a lapping tool, and they were way off before I chucked up the tool to check them.
You basically got a custom engine component meant for racing, and are considering mounting it in a bent Chevy engine compartment that was mass-produced.
The billet sets or a lapped upper are what are appropriate to complement your barrel. If you want me to do the work on your upper, I can do it, make sure everything is trued up, concentric, lap the bolt to the extension, blend and polish the feed ramps, radius your ejector, tune the extractor, bed the extension if needed, test-fire, and send it back to you with your choice of 6.5 Grendel Reloading Handbooks or not.
I can also Cerakote the upper, barrel, gas block, gas tube, etc. What muzzle device do you have, and what threads did you go with?
Outlaw 45 I didn't order it from saturn a local gun shop ordered in a saturn and a A/A barrel for a customer to pick which one he wanted he took the A/A and left the saturn. When i seen it in the glass case i snached it right up. It's 18" 1 in 8 twist mid length gas system 750 at gasblock 9/16th 24 thread and the bolt was in the box with the barrel.
Lrrpf52 is it better to go with a matched set of billets as far as fit and finish and what for triggers would you and Bill W. recommend also. I've looking at either a seekins billet set or mega billet set with the bolted on hand guard the mkm 420 or 520 upper. And thanks for all the info for this build too

Nice grab on the Saturn. I have a billet lower from Seekins when they first started making them. Then last year bought their billet upper to go with it. Both are great pieces of work. I can only say that there is a slight difference in color which is understandable since it was many years between when the two were made. I haven't seen a Mega but if you like the style of the Seekins, a set from them will be good to go.
As for triggers, I like Geissele. Also Rock River national match trigger is one of the best for the money.

+1 I also like the spikes tactical billet sets, not those damn shark ones though. WTC
As far as triggers go I like the Geissele SSA line. SSA for hunting/tactical work and the SSA-E for bench or anytime the ut most precision is needed out of an AR.

Lrrpf52 Oh i would love to have a OBR upper and lower but i didn't see them listed on there site for sale seperate i've been looking at seekins and mega's with the uppers that dont put stress on the barrel nuts with the fore end this weekend i will make up my mind and order them and the trigger question i had. i was looking for something more adjustable the sabre i have i put a rock river in it i like it but i would like something better and i have looked at some of there triggers now to pick one and thanks for the input

These guys have directed you in the right direction on upper/lower selection.
I'm not sure you can buy stripped uppers from Larue any longer. I might be wrong and haven't looked at them in a while.
Go with billet matched set.
Seekins-beautiful and unique and top notch
That would be my first choice.
Then PF and mega are also great.
If you want unique you could look at side charge uppers. There was a thread bit ago about these. If I had the money I would start my build with a side charger.

Larue does not list any on there site so i ordered a seekins billet set irmt-3 with a 15"hand gruard. I looked at a ASA side charger but not really sure i liked it all that much i did see the left side handle only mod. i thought it might be something to play with but i went with the seekins set

So did you go with the Seekins SP223 Lower? They are nice and the SBA15 should be coming out this spring. I'm waiting to see what they look like but as most Seekins items, they should be a great finish.
