Took her to my local gunsmith to give it a once over and find a scope base that will fit the gun. He said it fits a weaver two piece kit, and that it is in remarkably great condition. Very good sporterizing job, original crown and it has the target sights? ... Like you all said M38 carbine. I think I will look for a used Leupold 3x9 scope. I'd prefer the largest tube I can get for light gathering and maybe even a lit recticle, target turrets etc., but not something huge. I bought some Prvi Partizan 139g loaded ammo when I was out today too. Picked up a Lee collet necksizing kit, with full sizer and seating die. I will need to hold off before I can afford to do anything else, but I think I will eventually choose the Forster mic. precision bullet seating die. Oh, a Lee factory crimp die. I really don't feel like cutting the gun up anymore or modifying it unless I can swap parts back in. I know it lost it's collectors value when it was sporterized, but it still has some sort of historical value the less it is cut on. I wen't the same route with my mosin nagant 91/30 by adding a brass stacker scout scope mount and Nc Star 2x7 scope lr. I just can't bring myself to cut a historical piece up. Call me stupid I guess :/

I have a forster mic. seating die I bought for loading 6.5 Grendel. Would I be able to use it for 6.5x55? Both are 6.5 bullets. Probably a ridiculous question. Anyways, I mounted a vortex diamondback 40 ob. 3x9 scope on the rifle and went shooting yesterday. Very nice grouping, without even handloading yet.

As long as the 6.5x55 case fits inside the seating body without binding, and there is enough travel to seat long projectiles for it, it might work. I looked at my .260 Rem Forster micrometer seating die, and it will seat Grendel, but the Grendel has a smaller case diameter, so I'm not sure if it works vice versa, I tried a .260 Rem in the Grendel seating die, but it's a different make. My concern would be that the die might not align the case properly, and you get run-out.

You will need a different shell holder though, as the Swede has a .480" case head diameter. If you already load for one of these, you have a 6.5x55 shell holder:

The Swiss 6.5 Mausers are the most accurate rifle on the Service Rifle circuit here. We're talking comparing early 20th Century military rifles. They outshoot the Lee Enfield 303 and German Mauser (both calibers).

We had a Swedish family show up at BoomerShoot in 2011. They had 2 Swedish Mausers, one re-worked as a target gun. They had a 15yr-old girl IIRC who had never shot at distance before. The dad broke out this old Swedish Army ammuntion that was corroded and looked horrible.

By the middle of the day, the girl was ringing the flag on the 700yd IPSC like it was fun or something. I was afraid to shoot after her....

I think you are right. If you ever watch NCIS's It's Zeva and Kenzie that do all the killing. They take their right to choose way beyond 9 months.
