I will contribute and, in so doing, suggest that the 'official' terminology changes with the groups of folks. For example, we have reticle and reticule:

• Reticle appears to be used largely in the US hunting community
  
• Reticule appears to be used in the US military precsion shooting community
  

Both terms appear to be acceptable, but the [B]Free Online Dictionary[/B] indicates that reticle is preferred and that reticule is less commonly used. I suspect that this difference can be traced back to the struggles between French and English language usage as the respective countries jockeyed for world domination a century or three (or four) ago.

Adding to the confusion, the spell-checker in this form accepts reticule as a correctly spelled word but not, the more common reticule.

Yes, I know that we have strong adherents for both.

I propose both forms be included in the lexicon with notes indicating where one spelling is preferred and vice-versa.

Am waiting for one of you to come up with a sort of lexicon of terms used in the marksmanship arena that we can refer someone to who is new to the equipment and shooting sports.

This would cover material, technology, and marksmanship terminology.

A link would work, embedding large documents doesn't. I've put in some large documents, but you have to break them into max size pieces and use multiple posts, which is a pain!

Yes - it is a pain to dice up a large document into board sized pieces.

Irregardless of the facts, someone will continue to reticule my grammar or spelling until I brake my pattern of misusing words. (sarcasm, misuse of words, and the irregardless was intended)
