This was about the 4th reload on lee dies. AA brass. I will dial my gas block back to zero for the next few runs.

That's a timing issue. The bolt is unlocking before pressure has dropped enough. That is the dreaded "Grendel belted magnum".

You need to dial back your gas block, use a heavier buffer, use a stouter spring, use a carrier weight system....or all of them!

I just loaded up some of the 123 AMAX "preferred load" with 8208 XBR. My range is closed until January, but I might make the trek out to another range that has a 300m range.

I've got a BHW 20" with an LBC chamber. It usually does 1.5 moa with most loads I've tried, but a couple loads do around 3/4 moa. Really hoping it likes the 123 AMAX, I built it to be 1/2 moa rig...

A question for competition shooters or guys with polygonal BHW barrels: How many rounds do you go between cleaning without a noticeable loss in accuracy? I picked up some bore tech eliminator, but haven't tried it yet.

Can't help you on your barrel question but you did get a good solvent for copper. I've been using it for quite a while and I like the fact I can soak the bore with a patch, let it sit over night, hit it with a brush the next day and a few patches later the barrel is clean. Nice and easy without much effort. Also there no chance of damage like with some other solvents.

The average out of my 19.5" barrel for 10 shots.

The best group was with the AMAX load with 28.5gr at 0.81". I was using PPU brass with CCI 200 primers.

Guys, just got a few hundred amax 123s & 120 match kings, have some 8208, once fired primed & polished brass - anything special I have to do to give these rounds a try for precision?

Be sure to watch the Hornady cases for length. I had chambering issues because I had some cases that were to long. I'm not using match dies so it is easier for me to trim my fired brass to keep everything consistent.

Carrier wieghts and a wolf spring fixed my issues! Thx folks.

I clean my BHW barrels about ever 100 rounds. They are shot in matches quite a bit so that is about normal. I have run them over 175 with no lose ib accuracy. The barrels are so smooth I seem to never get copper fouling to any degree. They are the smoothest barrels I have ever owned.

Just bought 2lbs of 8208 and was looking for some load data.

My contribution will be soon however, it will be with the 123 SST and the 123 Nosler CC (All out of A-max) using IMR8208XBR powder, Hornady (Many fired Brass) and WSR Primers

Ive been working on a load that would shoot out of my 6.5 saod 20" 1:8 LW50 barrel and my sons 19.5 1:9 AA grendel chambered barrel. A couple weeks ago I finally got a really good group with the 6.5 saod using 123 smk, 28.5 8208 xbr, rem 9 1/2 primer, wolf brass trimmed to 1.52, and coal 2.260. Group was 3/4" with a flyer. Four shot was 5/8". That was my best group with the two powders blc2 and xbr over 123 ncc and 123

This sierra outperformed the ncc near max powder charge in my rifle. I dropped the charge to 28.4 and made sure that I trickled it right at 28.4 then set the bullet deeper 2.255 from 2.260. Here are the results.

Even though the grendel chamber didnt shoot it as well it still shot descent with a 10 power scope opposed to the 16 power on the 6.5 saod. The grendel barrel isnt as broken in w/80 rounds through it and has the slower twist.

I also finally found a descent shooting 140 grain Sierra Match King load out of the 6.5 saod. 140 smk, 28.5 blc 2, 2.250, case trimmed to 1.517. Shot a half inch group with a flyer that I know I pulled.

It's been a while...any conclusions?
From what I have seen the Hornady 123gr Amax factory ammo shoots very well. I don't know what it's loaded with, could it be leverevolution?

I'm wondering the same thing. I need to pull a bullet and look at the powder. I know it gives me 2470fps average from my 16", and it gave at least one of the 14.5" Saber barrel builds 2420fps avg.

After reading this old thread over several times I decided to try 8208 and the 123 Amax.

Very impressed with 8208 load, works better than factory Hornady Amax in my gun.

Settled at 28.4 gr at. 2595 ave speed. Shot really well in the wind this morning.
