With the Lilja group buy lacking bolts the question of a bolt group buy had come up in the thread. As to avoid getting the Lilja Group buy Thread off subject and too convoluted I thought I'd start a thread for this discussion.
Is a group bolt buy possible?
What about a stripped bolt, extractor, and component with user assembly group buy?
Does anyone know who we could contact for this?

IF you find somewhere to buy either bolts or complete BCGs I would be in. That seems like a BIG IF though.

It's Been mentioned before that Bill A doesn't want to be in the rifle component business, but the rifle making business. On that thought maybe he'll show up here and help us out with a little direction.

I've emailed Les Baer. We'll see what they say.
I'd like to get them straight from a manufacturer, but I doubt that'd happen.

Talked with Bill A. to day about it. It's possible, but no guarantees at the moment. AA needs to look at their orders and schedule to see what they can do.

I ordered a couple bolts from them last winter but haven't heard anything.

Yeah, I can see the issues here. With this group buy and the new barrel group buy and trying to get AA on board and/or Les Baer to get head-of-the-line privilege on BCG's, bolts, and even barrels. Where does that put those customers already waiting for 6 months for their orders? Ethical questions may be asked.

They won't say, but I ordered a 5.56 BCG from them that was the AR-Stoner brand, advertised as NiB, and it was not NiB. I posted my review of it, which included flaking of the coating within the 1st few shots. The review was removed, and they continued to sell them. Here are the results:

My AR Stoner grendel bolts and barrels seem to be doing pretty darn good. No complaints.

Not sure, but here is a theory. Gun/gun parts manufactures depend on places like Midway to sell their wares in good times and bad. Since they are in it for the long haul, I would imagine they have contracts to supply X amount of bolts, barrels, uppers etc on a monthly/quarterly basis. So in between building for the individual orders, they have to keep up their obligations to the distributors. Then you throw in the manufacturers difficulties, you have a constant juggling act. Midway just had a few Grendel barrels and bolts today. Last week they had beowulfs, and may still have them. Anyway, that is how I explain this roller coaster ride we are on. Any other ideas out there?

Wow, those pictures speak for themselves. Did they replace it? Since midway is just a supplier, they may have got a bad batch from the supplier.

I found a guy that manufactures AR parts out in Lake Havasu, Arizona called Maxim Firearms. I'm using there carriers in both my Grendel's. They make 6.8spc and 5.56mm bolts for various builders now but not currently Grendel. They've made carrier groups for six years and have made Grendel in the past for a couple builders. They used to make BCG's for Bushmaster when it was in Maine in the pre Windham Weapons days. The shop said they will start making Grendel bolts if we can get 25 buyers. The price will be 75 bucks a bolt and will take a month to fill the order. PM your name and i'll start adding you to a list. When we get 25 buys i'll start collecting the funds. We need at least 25 buyers for them to start the order.

To what specs are they going to make them?
$75 per bolt seems expensive for a group buy.

I'll get the price down thats just a range because hes got to start manufacturing the extractors. He's currently buying them and his supplier is asking 10 bucks a piece. So i'll keep talking to him and post up a refined price. As far as the spec what exactly do you want me to ask?
Did they have Grendel's & Beowulf's, or .264 LBC's and 12.7x42's? If you recall, they used to regularly stock AA 6.5 Grendel and Beowulf components. That's where I got my 16" barrel/bolt combo.

I'd prefer LRRPF52 answer that or someone else who is more familiar with the specifics of the Grendel Bolt Specs.

Just called him he's at home and needs to check his print at the shop. He said if we had our own print he could make to that spec.
