AA Upper Lead Times

I ordered a hard use bolt for the Grendel at the end of December 2012 and have not seen the beastie yet. Waiting patiently for it and some mags I ordered.

I ordered a 24" Shilen barreled upper... in December. No word yet, my friend just found a barrel on-line and bought it... here I sit and wait.

You need to start looking for the parts. You can build one for less and probably sooner than if you wait on them.

I finally broke down and called today…I placed orders in December for various parts. As always, received very courteous support.

Lower receiver…still a long wait.

Upper receiver…maybe 6 weeks.

Hard use bolt…maybe 6 weeks, maybe more.

High capacity magazines…long wait.

Case of Wolf 120 MPT…they expect a delivery any time now; looks like I have a shot at getting that soon (but too bad both my existing Grendels are out for make-over).

I was hoping to have the Grendel ultra-light 14.5" barrel built up by now. Anyways, while I await the parts, I did take a Carbine 2 class with VX Marksmanship today (shooting on the move). Good fun.

Anybody received an order lately? As I pasted the six month wait mark I sent AA an email, I got the typical " there is no way we can predict when we can ship.. Blah blah" I just wanted to see if anyone here had seen a UPS truck in a while, and if so where did you buy it from?

I found a 50 Beowulf new Hard Use bolt on GB and bought it for $200. got it Saturday and am happy. I paid and extra $100 but thats like 3 boxes of ammo so to me it's worth the price. He said he ordered it early December and just got it so looks like there is a 6 month lead time before the big scare of 12/12.

I called last week about my Entry Upper with 20" barrel. I ordered Jan 9 of 2013. They just told me it should ship 6 to 8 months from my order date.

I'm over 6 mts now so I sent an email and here's my response today.

Due to several unknown factors surrounding the production of components and parts for our assemblies, we remain unable to offer an estimated delivery date for your order. It is possible that it may be available for shipment in the coming several weeks, pending deliveries of components like upper receivers, barrels, bolts, etc. However, these deliveries are not guaranteed by our vendors to ship in a particular time frame, and so we cannot offer production lead times or delivery dates to our customers without the information needed to calculate these details. We do not permit the substitution or addition of a back-ordered item to an open order. Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns. Thank you for your consideration during this very difficult and busy time."
Don't sound like a definite 6 to 8 mts.

I just received my order for an 18" lightweight upper. Ordered on Nov 17 .

Well I gave up on AA, canceled my orders and found a overwatch AA upper on Armslist that was brand new. I wished I had searched better months ago. This one shoots great and will be the death of a many hogs soon. I got to tweck it some first. Good luck with the waits, I just got too impatient.

post us a picture and glad to here that. Also barrels available at LW. 1-1/2 months out so I just ordered an 18" for hunting in the woods. Now I won't have to cut down my 24" and have best of both worlds......

If you just got yours before the 12/19 crap, then it will be years till they get all the BO orders out. They must be back ordered by the $$millions.....

Ordered my 16 inch upper on FEB 18th and it got here on Friday JUL 5th. Ammo and magazines included in the ordered are still on backorder.

There are so many factors that AA can't control that it has to be extremely frustrating knowing that you could ship all those back orders if only you received some small part that they don't make in house.

People not knowing when an order may be received and the resulting frustration is what fuels much of the high pricing for parts. If an upper costs X, but has a wait of 6-10 months, some sellers cash in on that and charge X plus 50%, and often get it from those lacking patience.

Look at what happened recently with the huge rush to buy high capacity magazines. 30 round AR15 5.56x45 magazines selling for $50 each, and now those same magazines can be had for $20-25 without too much trouble. The people who bought 10 magazines for $500 are probably kicking themselves now.

Don't hold your breath for a CSS/LW barrel, I been told at least 6 times it's in this weeks batch over the last 6 months. I ordered in January, it showed in stock when I ordered. They respond to emails, but I imagine it will show up when I have forgotten about it some time down the road.

Last week I received my Beowulf upper and mags that were ordered last December. It was like Christmas in July!!
