Starting a new build

That looks pretty sweet. I have a 6.5 remington ultramag at the smith right now getting finished. Then i will go to work on my 338 edge. But this looks awesome. Have you looked into a manners stock? Thats what i will be doing on my edge

Sounds like you have a couple fire breathers on the way. When (if) I get a .338 mag it will be an Edge. I have a good bit of .300 RUM brass saved.

well i have my action its a remington action with a jewel trigger ill have a 30" broughton barrel with a holland break and a manners stock with burris tactical rings and a 20moa rail and im going to got with either a vortex pst 6-24x50 or razor hd 5-20x50 for the glass.

hopefully i will have my 6.5 rum sometime in the next 2 weeks. It stared as a savage 111 300 win and is now a 6.5 rum with a 31" broughton barrel with holland break houge overmolded stock vortex pst 6-24x50 burris tactical rings and tally 20 moa rail my smith is also going to work over the accu trigger to lighten it up.

Here in oklahoma and me and my friends use Darin Johnston for our smithing he does the best work.

I have got two barrels for this build. One is a the Bartlein that is pic'd above in the thread and got an Obermeyer on the way. Both 31" 1.350 breech down to 1" muzzle. Got the PainKiller break obviously. Waiting on my Stiller Tac338 action with 20 MOA base, gonna put a USO 5-25x58 TPAL with all the trimmings including USO rings. Stock is still up in the air but will probably go with the XLR HD. Don't plan on lugging this thing around too much in the field. Figure I will just make longer shots....... Gonna be the ultimate pig killer.

It's been about a year ago this thread was started. After a 10 month wait to get the action, work finally started to move forward again. All components have gone to the smith and all work with the exception of Duracoat has been completed. Hopefully get to go put some rounds down the tube on Sunday for proof of work guarantee provided by my smith.

A few items got changed for the build throughout the time waiting on parts but for the most part stayed the same.

Action is the Stiller 338 with 20 MOA base, Timney trigger, Primary barrel is a Bartlein 5R 1.350" down to 1" finished at 30", APA Pain Killer brake, Went with the AICS 2.0 folder chassis and had my smith machine a new recoil lug slot. Dressed the chassis with a set of Viper Skins in FDE even though the entire build will go FDE in color.

Going to put a NF 5.5x22x56 on it until my USO comes in. barreled action weighed right at 12 lbs so the build is definitely going to be 20+ lbs complete.

I will get some pics up as soon as it is in my hands.

This build has pushed me into another aspect of shooting that I figured would come sooner or later. It just happened to be sooner than thought...... Reloading. After purchasing the first 20 rounds to use as break in rounds for the build, and the current ammo situation with pricing, the decision was pretty easy to get into reloading. So after the last month the following items have been purchased to get me a jump start into the game. This will get me my 338 build covered along with my Grendel and .223's

glad to see imperial wax on your list. youll definitely want to use it on the LM, maybe even the grendel. I started using it to size my grendel brass and it makes it much easier and smoother.

Build is done. Loaded up a few mild hand loads this evening. Should be able to go break her in this Saturday.

22 lbs. on the scales. That will probably go up when I replace the NF with a USO and the Harris with an Atlas.

Sorry about the pic quality. Kind of dark in the house but will get better pics during day lights hours tomorrow.
