Economy is good?
#1
Figures released yesterday showed that businesses had created 119,000 new jobs in April, 20% below what was expected, 150,000.

That was followed by todays job report that NEW filings for unemployment were 234,000 last WEEK, down 18% from the week before, but still part of a month that saw more than 1,000,000 new filings.

Nevertheless, the media is reporting these results as if they are good evidence that todays economy is on the rebound. Like the Federal Government, media is drinking the KoolAid.

I am at a loss as to how any SANE individual can look at 1,000,000+ new unemployment claims, compare that to 119,000 new jobs, and then declare that we are in an upswing economy!

Folks, this is a toilet bowl economy, with the water swirling around the bowl, and if you have a job, be thankful for now, but plan on finding a way to keep it, or finding a way to feed your family when the flush happens. There is NO WAY we can sustain a 17 Trillion dollar debt, growing at BILLIONs of dollars daily, and manage to re-ignite the economy and save American jobs.

This is going to require a Re-Boot, and just like the blue screen of death on a Windows computer, it is going to be painful.

Start preparing if you haven't, keep preparing if you have!

I haven't seen new residential construction starts in years, and I remember them like weeds in the 1980's and 1990's.

our government and the media present these numbers to the public because they know that the majority of us dont listen, dont understand, or dont care. those of us who do however will hopefully be prepared for what is to come, and if it happens, I hope the best for our country and all of you people, because I think things are going to be very painful and nasty. I work in a part of georgia where most of the landowners are billionaires or multimillionaires at the very least, and I have seen a drastic reduction in spending, though we still spend a whole lot just to hunt quail, deer, etc. Point is, the unemployment in the plantation community here is pretty high and has been since '08, and its not getting much better, so I can imagine how it is everywhere else.

He's theorizing what I've been theorizing for a while now. I completely agree with Bwaites. However, I believe hitting the reset button now is the best thing that could happen to this country. Assuming the true conservatives in this country stand together. If we don't hit the reset button and keep down this road I fear we'll share the same fate as the Roman Empire.

When civilizations come to this point, the consequences usually re-boot themselves. The banking community is doing all it can do to manipulate how much monopoly money we think is on the board, and who owns the railroad because they know a day of reckoning for their actions is coming.

It would be so blissful to be an uninformed Obama voter who actually believes this tripe that is spewed from Jay Carney's pulpit of propaganda. Imagine how great it would be if you could actually swallow this filth and it tasted sweet to you, and all the indicators around you appeared to confirm the fecal stream of insanity coming from the Appratchik Press and Comrade Obama....I guess collecting SS, State Disability, WIC, Worker's Comp, and talking on your Obama phone could help convince you that all is great, especially as you inhale that gaseous stream of THC-laced smoke vapor into your excited lungs.

Unfortunately, that tells me nothing about what you mean by, "This is going to require a Re-Boot."

An interesting read, but he never uses the phrase "Re-Boot" so I still don't know what you mean.

Instead of telling me what it doesn't mean, please tell me what it does mean.

Unfortunately, it doesn't. In the article Bill linked to (as a supposed explanation) in post #7, the author said:
Quote:Am I saying it’s time for switching to the ammo box? No, I am not. That opportunity has already been passed by.
I know what it means to re-boot a computer. I have absolutely no idea what it means to "re-boot" the economy, let alone how it could be done.

It means they are currently desperately trying to reinflate a bubble. Our economy goes through periodic booms and busts (the normal cycle). The longer you suppress a bust, the more harsh it hits you when it comes. The artificial manipulation of our economy and the markets pushed the boom too far and created a massive bubble at the top. That bubble never comepletely deflated, and was patched over by extreme interference in the system. They can't maintain it forever, and when it does indeed pop it will have catastrophic consequences for our economy, and our society as a whole.

Our Progressive leaders will likely take advantage of the crisis to foment even more progressive/socialist policies under the auspices of never letting a crisis go to waste. In the past there were various traits/mechanisms that helped us to recover, but the vast majority of them have been extinguished. Things are likely going to get VERY bad, and decent folks hope that if it does happen, maybe we can at least rebuild with our constitution intact.

Jar Jar Binks version: "Thingsa gonna get bombad bad, and thingsa likely gonna go boom and crash. Maybe weesa build a nicer village after crash."

P.C. Version---- We started out with an excellent operating system, but as our hard drive was loaded with ever increasing loads of bad programs the system eventually couldn't take it and crashed. Service stopped, and people weren't happy. The system might get "rebooted" by starting over with our original operating system without all the crap that choked us to death.

Hillbilly version: Too many "folks" ate their welfare cheese till they couldn't walk, and then rode our donkey until they broke his back. Now we have a broken ass, and the "folks" can't even move. They are too fat to carry on our own, so they'll have to starve until they either die or get up. Either way, we ain't gonna carry the freeloaders no more after our donkey is dead.

Super short form:

This isn't going to buff out (!!!!!):

Chris, thanks for being the only person considerate enough to try to answer my question.

If I understand you correctly, to "re-boot" the economy would mean waiting until it collapsed, then somehow eliminate many current government programs, and then somehow revert the economy to a state that existed at some undefined point in the past.

Is that an accurate summation?
