I finally got to stretch the legs a bit today with my 22" Bartlein barreled grendel. Nothing spectacular yet, but it looks promising if I can ever get any loading dies. A few particulars about the weather/conditions:
Wind 4-6mph at 11 o'clock, shifting to 5-7 at my 9 o'clock. Didnt bother me too bad at 400 yds, but really started to show at 732 yards.
humidity was 65%
Temp started out at 65 F, ended at 75 F
barometric pressure was 30.2
Load was factory 123 Amax
2526 lowest
2570 highest
2550 average ES-43.45 SD-17.83
As a side note, i was tuning my gas block on these first five shots. I dont know if that changes velocity or not.
Like i said, I think I can make it a little better when my dies get here, as I have some 123SMK's, 120 SMK's, 108 scenars. If none of those work out, Im going to try the 123 Nosler CC's. I also have the 123 SST's to test for a hunting load.
I did make two blatant errors today- I didnt attach an orange sticker for aiming point on the steel, and I didnt correct enough for the cross wind at 732
. It would change too quick and I was in too big a hurry. Anyway, comments and criticisms are welcome.
First pic is 3 shots at 400 measuring 2.25", 2nd is next 5 shots at 400 measuring 2.75", 3rd is 5 shots at 732 measuring 7.1", as is 4th, just close up of pic 3. Pic 5 is 100 yard zero verification which measures .934, which I think from now on i will zero at 400 to get me closer on target at longer range (windage wise). Maybe someone can clue me in as to how I can insert pics in my text and have pics match up with text?
