I swore the same oath when I enlisted at the MEPS station in Los Angeles on Oct. 3rd, 1993, while watching a live story on CNN about Rangers in Somalia hunting down some dude named Aidid. My understanding is that my oath was to protect and defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic.
Maybe that's why Janet Napolitano and DHS worked hard to label veterans, gun owners, and people who constantly refer to the Constitution as "terrorists". She knows she's an enemy to the Constitution, as is her regime.
The funny things is, these statist, elitist Leninists have worked so hard to take away arms from the people, that it triggered a massive era of non-stop panic-buying by millions upon millions of people in the US, many of whom would never have purchased an AR15 before the Clinton AWB of 94. Heck, I would have been happy with 2-4 military style weapons, as long as the market stayed open and free for my kids and their kids, which is why I'll never really be satisfied with any number-too many unknowns about what will be available in the future, so let the generational panic-buying proceed.
Since my family has experienced tyranny and successful thwarting of communist invasion in Europe in 1939-1940, and 1941-1944, I realize that this isn't a theory or some wild ramblings of a fear-mongering trumpeter. This game is for real, and if you play it wrong, you can easily end up with a boot on your neck, or like my great aunt, gang-raped and thrown into the ocean. Then there was my great uncle who was kidnapped and taken to the Soviet Union as a slave-laborer for the Stalinist state until he died. We don't really know what happened to him.
A surviving great aunt remembers clearly when the Russians bombed the snot out of Helsinki, watching people blown into pieces in front of her eyes as they fled and boarded buses to flee the city. What was different about Finland was they prepared a Home Guard program after gaining independence from Russia in 1917, and that program matured into the 1920's and 1930's. Ownership of and constant training with military arms were at its core, to include competition.
Finland is the only country I know that successfully stopped the Soviets from invading them. Not only did they stop them, but they wiped out 10 entire Soviet Divisions within 90 days during the Winter War.
Fast forward to our current state in the US. We literally have Leninist propagandists calling for the murder of anyone who's a member of the NRA, confiscation of our means to protect ourselves and our families, and totalitarian measures against any free-thinking people left over. These people aren't kidding. They really hunger for a society where government preemptively punishes people for the perceived crimes they have never, and most would never commit, but punish them anyway just in case. They have scores of willing accomplices who occupy the White House, Congress, Supreme Court, military, centers of finance, and academia.
The only thing that keeps them in-check is the awareness that they have a heavily-armed populace to contend with at the end of the day, and they see that as an obstacle to achieving their social engineering goals. I plan on leaving a legacy for my family where they will never be at the mercy of the kind of evil that has already claimed the lives of several of my relatives. I will do everything to ensure that the Constitution is in-tact as much as possible for my kids, and their kids, because the society that Lenin and Stalin conceived isn't worth living in. I've seen it first-hand, and the Russians have still yet to recover from what the Bolsheviks did to them from 1917 forward. The thick cloud of mental depression hangs heavy over Russia, like a constant weather system. You have to see it to know what I mean.
For those that don't know, we have more freedom in the US than you could ever hope to find abroad. You can literally feel it when you arrive back in the States, like nowhere else. Vermin are trying to dress that down and put a stop to that more in this generation. We need to stay vigilant, steady, & resolute for freedom.

I know a retired special force member from Bragg. He was a child on Guam when the Japanese occupied it in WWII. He says that the people of the US need to fight for every word of the constitution, that we do not realize what it is like to see someone beheaded just keep people in check.
LRPPF52: Unfortunately, my generation (I'm 35) sadly views these threats as being ridiculous. We have grown up spoiled, knowing nothing but prosperity and good times. Our government has taught us that someone will always be there to hold our hand and bail us out. Things such as healthcare, internet access and unlimited vacation time have become "birthrights". People such as Obama, Pelosi & Reid are seen as our mommy's who will clothe, feed and always take care of us. The idea that we need to stay armed to protect ourselves from them is absurd. War is something that we see in video games, or in far away places on our big screen television. Not something that could ever be in OUR backyard. Giving up these "toys" that are a liability not only makes sense, but should have happened long ago. People who think such as you do are completely nuts and possibly unsafe to be around. Perhaps you should "smoke some weed and chill dude".
God that was nausiating to type! I am ashamed that the majority of my generation are such foolish spoiled children, but for the most part we are. This my friends IS the mentality the WE are up against.

You know this is trial run to see how it goes in illinois before going nationwide. This will help them fine tune their strategy... so it must backfire big time!
So I'm torn; I believe in standing up for rights we are born with (not granted by Gov't) but I also don't want my family to suffer after I'm shot down defending our rights. It would take everyone standing up at one time together (but not in the same location - since our administration has no issues drone striking Americans without due process), to ensure freedom's we are born with are not taken from us. The only other option is to hide them where no one will ever find them; and have them as back up for when/if the US really does split and/or falls (whatever your bug out scenario may be).
I don't think I can truly know or say what I would do until presented with the situation.
We might have to support Illinois with civilian troops if the state cops really start attempting to obtain citizen's guns.

I could only stomach living in socialist Europe for 2-3 years, then I HAD to come home to the land of the free! You could feel it getting off the airplane. I could feel it talking with US Air Traffic Control when flying an F-16 from overseas back to the States. I sometimes feel that people looked at me like a nut-job when I described the lack of freedoms in western Europe. Unless you've experienced it (not by visiting, but by living there) firsthand, it is hard to fathom.

According to the FBI annual crime statistics, the number of murders committed annually with hammers and clubs far outnumbers the number of murders committed with a rifle.
This is an interesting fact, particularly amid the Democrats' feverish push to ban many different rifles, ostensibly to keep us safe of course.
However, it appears the zeal of Sens. like Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Joe Manchin (D-WV) is misdirected. For in looking at the FBI numbers from 2005 to 2011, the number of murders by hammers and clubs consistently exceeds the number of murders committed with a rifle.
Think about it: In 2005, the number of murders committed with a rifle was 445, while the number of murders committed with hammers and clubs was 605. In 2006, the number of murders committed with a rifle was 438, while the number of murders committed with hammers and clubs was 618.
And so the list goes, with the actual numbers changing somewhat from year to year, yet the fact that more people are killed with blunt objects each year remains constant.
For example, in 2011, there was 323 murders committed with a rifle but 496 murders committed with hammers and clubs.
While the FBI makes is clear that some of the "murder by rifle" numbers could be adjusted up slightly, when you take into account murders with non-categorized types of guns, it does not change the fact that their annual reports consistently show more lives are taken each year with these blunt objects than are taken with Feinstein's dreaded rifle.
Another interesting fact: According to the FBI, nearly twice as many people are killed by hands and fists each year than are killed by murderers who use rifles.[/indent][/color]

Its not just about the guns, its those in power wanting complete and total control over the citizenry. Obama has flat out said that he wants to bring America down to the levels of Europe. Taking the guns is simply the first step. Without a disarmed population, they can not effectively do whatever it is they want to do. So they embark on misinformation campaigns in an attempt to divert attention away from thier true objective.
