CULLERTON TO INTRODUCE NEAR TOTAL GUN BAN ON JANUARY 2ND

The ISRA has learned from a credible source that Illinois Senate President John Cullerton will introduce a so called assault weapons ban on Wednesday when the legislature returns for its lame duck session. Cullerton hopes to ramrod the bill through and get it to Governor Quinn for signature by Friday. If he is successful at doing so, nearly every gun you currently own will be banned and will be subject to confiscation by the Illinois State Police.
Based on what we know about Cullertons bill, firearms that would be banned include all semiautomatic rifles, pistols, and shotguns. Pump action shotguns would be banned as well. This would be a very comprehensive ban that would include not only so-called assault weapons but also such classics as M1 Garands and 1911-based pistols. There would be no exemptions and no grandfathering. You would have a very short window to turn in your guns to the State Police to avoid prosecution.
And so begins the framework of attrocities against the American people which will eventually lead to revolution or civil war!
I have no read on the pulse of Illinois politics, but I have a hard time believing something this draconian would pass.

Illinois is dominated by politicians from Chicago and the surrounding counties and that is all anti-gun terrirtory. The Democrats have a super-majority in the Illinois House, the Illinois Senate and they hold the Governors seat with very-anti-gun Gov Quinn.
Downstate Illinois is very pro-gun, but they do not have the votes to override the Chicago area vote.

I think there would be an "emergency stay" by the court system, at least by SCOTUS to prevent an insurrection

The last thing we wanna see down here in Texas is more Yankees..... but i would definetely accept any conservative refugees fleeing from Illinois as long as they bring their guns and leave Jessy Jackson behind.... both of them!!!! If this monstruosity becomes law, its time to head south.

When a NATO member country is attacked, the rest of the NATO members are supposed to rally to its defense. Perhaps there should be a "2nd Amendment Militia" ready to run to the aid of our fellow americans in these cases... It may really be coming to that. When they come out to get the guns, we all show up with ours.... and lets see if they dare.
Wait, didn't Illinios just get their hands slapped by the Supreme Court for trying to infringe on people's 2nd ammendment rights? There is NO WAY that they will get away with this. The best they could hope for (and maybe their plan) is to enact it and grab as many guns as they can in the small window that they get before this is shut down.
We can talk about this 24/7. They intend to take our guns and lets face facts if youre not willing to kill them to keep them theyre gonna get them. Its 1984 boys and Audie Murphy or John Wayne wont be coming to the rescue.
I'm all for a 2nd Amendment Militia! And I will kill ANYONE who tries to take my guns! Murphy, Wayne and Swayze are all gone, but thats life. We can't look to anyone other than ourselves for the solution.

Sure they can get away with this!
They got 'slapped' for 1) an outright ban on handguns in Chicago and 2) an outright ban on carrying for self defense. However, this law would not ban all guns, it would still allow O/U shotguns, bolt action and break open rifles. It would allow revolvers. It would allow some semi-auto pistols if they are not capable of extended magazines. So IF crafted carefully, this law could pass court scrutiny.
FURTHER, if it passes and is unconstitutional it would take YEARS, perhaps DECADES, going through the courts before it is found unconstitutional and that would effectively ban all these weapons during that many year time period.
The only way they would get away with it is is YOU ( the citizens of the state of Illinois) let them get away with. We will soon see who is serious when they say "Come and get it"

And sadly, nobody from Illinois seems to have even posted in this thread. But as someone who lives only a mile from the Illinois state line I can tell you that the politics in Illinois a slimy and the mainstream media out of Chicago has not even reported on this bill. Likely they want to pass it quickly, before anyone can mobilize against it.

I must admit that im astonished that its come to this moment in history, Ive always realized it was possible for it this to happen but for it to actually be knocking at my own door is very disturbing to say the least.

Doesnt illinois only have shotgun firearms season? Thats going to really cause them some problems. I doubt it will come close to passing.
Trust me, I cuss this damn state almost daily. If it wasn't for family I'd move in a heartbeat.
And believe you me, if ANYONE comes to my door ccollecting, I'll be leaving a bag long before I hand them over.

As for coming close to passing . . . well only time will tell. I think the sooner it comes to a vote the closer it will be to passing but the longer into the future it is extended the less likely it will be to pass. Simply put, if they can get a vote before people mobilize against it then I think it might actually happen. But if people 'downstate' mobilize then they will stop it, or at least dillute it. Realize that parts of Illinois already have bans on "assault weapons" as well as on magazines over 10 rounds. So its not out of the question to see this bill pass.
What is interesting is that the Amateur Trap Association has its headquarters in Sparta,Ill.Some very large tournaments take place there every year. That is probably the reason they exempt single shot and o/u shotguns from confiscation. It is time to bombard the ATA with mail and get the membership after them to move to a gun friendly state!
