I have a Model 1 16" CAR 6.5 sporter. I broke a few bolt lugs and I am looking to replace the bolt. I am hoping someon can help me out with information. Can I use the AA bolt in the moodel with a drop in fit and shoot or do I need to do something becaus eof the recessed face. I read on another forum that the model 1 sporter bolt is a 7.62x39 bolt. Woudl that be my plug and play bolt? I would prefer the AA but plug and play is what I am looking for. Any help woudl be greatly appreciated. On another note what would cause the bolt lugs to shear off by the exctractor?

You cannot use the AA bolt, they have a deeper face than the 7.62 bolts Model 1 has used.
You need to call Model One and order a new bolt for their 6.5 Sporter.

Armalite or RGuns bolts may be better than the M1 bolts.
How common is Bolt Breakage with the 6.5 Grendel?
And is it a problem of just max or hot loads
or do they all give prematurely?

AR bolts, unlike bolt action rifles, should be looked upon as expendables. The military uses a replacement cycle for M4 bolts of 5-10,000 rounds.
Grendel bolts, at least those available from AA, have been tested and upgraded from standard bolts and generally will last as long as the barrel. If you shoot hot loads, they may break, but the design is such that bolt breakage protects the rest of the rifle.
Several years ago I kept track of every broken bolt reported on ARF.com and here, and all but one of them came from handloaded ammunition.

So essentially your average shooter, loading for close to medium range accuracy and NOT chacing the last FPS should be good?
I cannot envision shooting 5000 rounds through my rifle (but who know I may take up competition)

Correct, but don't be surprised if you shoot more than you expect! I've shot my way through something like 10,000 Grendel rounds and a couple barrels, and I know a couple guys here have easily doubled r tripled that!
