Can the Grendel survive an AR Ban?

You forget that we have a lame duck President about to be sworn in for a second term. He will not have to worry about re-election. Even if he can't push something past the legislature he will use Executive privilege and institute extreme tax on ammo, parts, etc. I'm sure plan B has already been thought out if the emotional level of the country drops and people start thinking rationally again. if i were gonna go full-on tinfoil hat and imagine a way an executive only prerogative could be used it might be restricting lead or whatnot through epa regulation, but again...hard to imagine it would be very meaningful

Well I'm about to spend $1600 on a precisionfirearms upper but now I'm really worried. I've been saving for a while now and then this happens. Maybe I should wait till January to see what happens. I'm pissed and this is bullshit I'm ready to finally buy and now I'm thinking I shouldn't. I have no use for a Grendel bolt gun so if there's no more demand for large amounts of Grendel ammo for us ar guys then I really doubt ammo manufactures are gonna keep making it. Definately a bad spot. A Grendel bolt action can be a great bolt action rifle but if thats not what you want I can see your point. Im worried about the money ive already spent on mine as well. But im afrad if they go to far just as Charles Krauthammer said on Fox News " If they ban guns they'll have an armed insurrection on their hands because the American people will not tolerate it." God I hope Charles is right.

My Grendel will survive any ban, it may not be at my side for a few yrs. , whilst it being in stolen mode -- hey! where is my rifle????? Damn-it just went missing today!!!!!!!-- by then, I will have found the thief, after an exhaustive search, and an even more brutal interagation!, Hell, I'll waterboard the bastige!!! and convince him-to give it back. Whooooaaaaa guys.... The train hasn't even left the station yet. Don't believe it's off the tracks and over the cliff already. If you want a Grendel semi, then get it. The only way they can make ARs go away completely (not counting ugly neutered features) is to flat out ban semi-automatic production, sales, and possession. That's a might taller hill than they can actually climb, regardless of their rhetoric. You haven't begun to hear all the hollering that'll occur when the fudd crowd wakes up and finds out how it'd affect them too. There are waaay more semis in America than people even realize. You have to ban them all to actually get the ARs. You do remember the postban ARs right? Ugly, but still perfectly functional. Once you make them ugly (remove the "evil" features) they differ not a bit from all other semis in the eyes of the law.

They (the antis) are currently riding the wave of emotion and talking a bigger game than they can actually bring. The NRA hasn't even opened fire yet, and they're gaining over 8000 members a day at this point.LOL Pearl Harbor looked bleak, but give us a moment to get our ass kicking boots laced up proper. The sheep are easily swayed, but the dems know they are hard to hold for any length of time. BOTH sides remember what happened the last time they passed an assault weapons ban. While Barry might be lame ducking, enough legislators would prefer to make it past their next election cycle that I seriously doubt they have enough votes to do much more than make them ugly again.

The Grendel isn't going anywhere. Heck if you think it might, then that's even more reason to get one now. They've never confiscated anything. Even NFA weapons just got registered. Annoying? Hell yes. But if you bought one back then, they went for the same price as semis. Check out what they are worth now! Heck my registered drop-in-auto-sear fetches in the ball park of 15-16 thousand dollars these days. Your semi grendel now just might be a hell of an investment if they get really stupid. They know better than to try outright confiscation. Even Barry ain't that crazy. It's all about incrementalism. You eat an elephant a bite at a time. They want the biggest bite they can get, but the last time they bit too big and ended up choking it back up (high-caps and "Assault-Weapons").

Now one thing Barry can do is screw with imports... He can do that with near impunity. We probably shouldn't even draw attention of any kind to that issue.... We reeeeaaaalllllyyyyy want to see some steel "stuff" sometime soon. It would royally suck to see that get blocked!!!!! UnowatImeEn???

Politicians always think of themselves first and the history of the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban is clear to all of them: The ban went into effect and then a few months later BOTH House and Senate became dominated by the Republican Party. Obama won his re-election by something like 350,000 votes, not a lot. He got his, but the other dems are hoping to be around beyond 2016 when he's gone. I suspect that this latest anti-gun surge will devolve into state-level legislation where anti-gun dems feel safer.

Things to consider so you have a plan B ready to go (1) Human nature being what it is, in the fullness of time there WILL be another atrocity. And sheeple will be horrified and law makers will respond to show that there "doing something". (2) Things have changed in this country, the last election showed that. Sheeple are now more impressed by the apperence of a elected official doing a thing than his actual performance. I say that getting a bolt or lever or falling block Grendel will keep some of your options. I also say that if you really love your AR that much you should at least consider getting a crossbow upper for it. That way even in the worst case senerio you've got legal AR lower.

No I can't see the future, it's just my strong opinion/educated guess based on political/historical observation. Not specific work info of any kind. I try to keep a firewall between that place and my presence here. If I knew something specific that wasn't public then I couldn't even post it here. I'd get in trouble waaaay too fast. That's why I won't even acknowledge who my employer is in a public forum. I'm definitely no one special, but saying anything specific is enough to make trouble in public forums anyway. I'll stay employed longer as a generic (albeit cranky) dude.

I've got a strong feeling their side isn't going to get nearly as much as they think they will this go around. Too many people have already been burned once, and we as a group are even more pissed than last time. I don't mean any of us should slack off for a second, just that our numbers will be growing faster than their's on this issue. People are scared, and getting angrier every day. Not just us crusty folk. The "normals" are even getting twitchy.

I did buy some Lancer 20 rounders to go with my older Lancer L5s. I hope they can somehow turn it up too. I've been thinking about trying their new L5 AWM mags if I ever find them at a decent price. Looking like a long shot for the next while now though...

I found some PMAG 30 rounders in the BX at Nellis AFB...they're mine now! They only cost $12 each (with the windows)

I now would be worried if any steel case ammo is ever going to make it here. Unless I had my machines already cranking out ammo I as a manf. Would wait to see if the Americans are going to ban importation of guns and ammo.
