Me, I own 3 non AR Grendels, I think that make me pretty safe from any reasonable ban . But what this thread should ask is something like "If the AR is banned from hunting and at rifle ranges what will you do?" Even if you got 100 magazines and 100K horded rounds if you don't get out and shoot at something from time to time your skill set l will rust away. If you think the 6.5 is about as good as it gets for target shooting and hunting, perhaps one option may be to go with a bolt Grendel for and keep your AR for a rainy day.

The AR15 will survive in Firearms Freedom States, and probably many others in a worst-case new Federal AWB. Many people will refuse to comply, and they will have the support of their governors, congressmen, and States.
The next issue becomes inter-state commerce, since most of the AR15 receivers are manufactured in a Firearms Freedom State, while BCG's, barrels, and LPK's are made in other States.

Not trying to debate if we will have an AWB.
Just looking at the future of the 6.5 Grendel round. It was designed to maximize the AR15 platform. If the platform effectively is regulated out of new production, then how do we keep the 6.5 Grendel relevant?
Let's face it, in bolt action there are simply so many established rounds that the Grendel is not relevant as a bolt action round.
So how do we keep the 6.5 Grendel growing IF there is an AWB?

How do we get the message out to combat the misconceptions?
1. The AR-15 has only one purpose - military combat. Therefore citizens shouldn't have one.
2. The AR-15 is only a .223 and therefore not a deer rifle.
3. The 2nd Amendment is to protect your right to hunt.

Now that Joe Biden has been appointed head of the committee for increased gun laws, who will represent the 2nd Amendment?
It will likely go back to the formal definition of an assault weapon, pistol grip, flash hider, collapsible stock, insert other stuff here... Feinstein's approach is "reasonable regulation, but protect 2A rights, we won't take your weapon, but you can't make them, buy them, sell them use them, or transport them". Nice position to be able to negotiate away from.

Having Biden as point man might work in our favor, as he seems to be of very staunch opinion regarding gun control. If they push for another "assault weapons" ban, magazine capacity limits, and the like, pushing that through the House might be a tough task, particularly in light of the Heller decision.
However, my concern is that although they might make noise about an "assault weapon" ban to try to distract us, the real effort might be something along the lines of classifying ARs and similar rifles as Title II arms, like machine guns, silencers, etc. I'm convinced they'll be smart about their approach.

Well the only thing i see us having going for us is that the house is outnumbering the dems on the republican side. Hopefully they wont be able to agree on anything and be mad at the democrats and shoot down there little bill. Unfortunately since all these kids were involved i think we will have one to many Republicans sway the other way over a sympathy vote. Screwing us all in the end. But we must hope for the best. You can bet whatever it is we wont be happy about it. And its going to shut down alot of manufacturers depending on there decisions. America comes closer to dying as we near January. Its a waiting game now. I also heard on a news station today they are even considering making any ammo that can be used in an AR platform illegal and will shut down production. I dont see this happening but if it does the Grendel, Beowulf, 300 Blackout, 6.8 SPC, .223, 458 socom will all cease to exist. Like i said i dont see that happening but it could. I would suggest alot of companies like Alexander Arms look at the possibility that they might have to start building bolt actions to keep things alive. Otherwise i dont think they will survive. And the Grendel will fall by the wayside. Just when we were starting to gain momentum.

The fillibuster rules have become pretty bastardized in recent years. Any legislation on a ban would have to have a 60 vote super-majority in the Senate as well...which they don't have. Plus, if by some miracle they got something passed in one house or the other...it would never survive conference anyhow i reckon with anything other than another ban in name only.
Even if...and that is remote at best...that legislation passed--the grendel would still be a wonderful round in a bold action anyhow. How many people hunt deer and whatnot with a .243??? Well I suppose...those folk would be even happier with the grendel for all the same reasons they like the 6mm. : )
Well I'm about to spend $1600 on a precisionfirearms upper but now I'm really worried. I've been saving for a while now and then this happens. Maybe I should wait till January to see what happens. I'm pissed and this is bullshit I'm ready to finally buy and now I'm thinking I shouldn't. I have no use for a Grendel bolt gun so if there's no more demand for large amounts of Grendel ammo for us ar guys then I really doubt ammo manufactures are gonna keep making it. I'm freaking out a little but I'm fixing to spend a lot of money on something that may be obsolete. Somebody slap me and wake me from this nightmare!
What if in January they say no more AR's will be produced, high cap mags, etc..... How long do you think before it would take effect? Remember there's several companies that only build AR's, DPMS, STAG, ROCKRIVER, and so on. We're talking about people being laid off businesses shutting down

Look at what happened to Anheiser Busch during prohibition. They sold yeast, soft drinks etc. Not hard to imagine those firms might stay in business even if there were a meaningful ban...which there almost certainly won't be.
