Hello the hoard I thought I would post some images of my CZ527 converted to 6.5mm Grendel. She now weighs just over 8lb as you see her now, not more than 1/2lb heavier with the moderator attached. The light coloured wood in the stock is a reproduction No 4t check piece which has been modified to fit the stock (in a ham-fisted way) by myself. It has tightened up my groups, now I can achieve a proper cheek weld.

The only problem I have is that one of my magazines has a tendency to present the round at the wrong angle every now and again. Overall I though, I could not be happier with the conversion.

Solutions take the form of necesity and a good cheek weld trumps looks any day. Are you saying that your moderator is only 8 oz as that is certainbly very light. I cant quite make out whether it is end of barrell can or a slight over barrel model. I have one of the lighter units available here in the overbarrel configuration in duralium and SS at 10 oz with just 4 in forward of muzzle so the weight is closer in and effects balance less.
I took a different ( and lighter) aproach to a suplementary cheekpiece for one of my stocks. I used a length of 3 in plastic downpipe and with cutting and heating came up with a suitable shape. I used clingfilm on the stock and filled the void with expanding foam and covered it with pigskin. I do have to remove it to clean the barrel but inset a nut into the stock so the machine screw runs into steel thread and remains tight even after many off and on's.

Von G, thanks for spotting todays mistake it should be 1.2lb. It would appear we both have a need for clingfilm, I used it to keep the stock clean, so I could fill the void with wood filler. The Mod is one of the reflex models, and covers the barrel by 3 inches, the bonus is I can also use it on my .303 sporter.

One of my cz magazines had a similar feeding problem. I took the magazine apart and flipped over that little piece of bottom metal, now it feeds fine.

Thanks LRRPF52, the barrel is made by these folks http://www.bergarausa.com/ it is 22" 4 grove 1:8 twist button rifling.

Here are some groups I have shot while trying to develop a good load. All are shot with VV N133 powder under either SMK 123 or NBT 100. This barrel would appear to be extremely forgiving.

Thread revival time.

I am off to Bisley on Thursday 18/04/13. It's the first time I have been able to shoot the Grendel over 100y, so taking her out to 600m and 1000m will be new ground for her. I chronoed the 28gr VV N133, 123 smk load. Which shoots one of the groups above.

I have the following results the temp is 8 oC and a whole 50 feet above sea level.

It averages 2601 fps. I was hoping for the bullet to be supersonic at 1000m and I am sure it still will be. I am already getting flack from the people I am going with saying it's not going to be enough gun to get there... We will see.

I am taking my AR as well just to see.

So why 16 rounds? Well it's all I had left over from the last batch I made. Time to load some more.

Thanks Von G, I will try to get some images of the 119 lane range. You are right about the historical aspect of the place, in some ways its like stepping back in time. Did you know before Bisley shooting comps were held on Wimbledon Common. It was stopped and Bisley made after a grave digger was shot and killed by a stray round while he was digging a grave in the local cemetery.

I used to shoot there every year while I was in the RAF in the inter service meetings, it feels very strange going back as a civilian.
